Frog Alliance Hops into Action – Junior Jump is May 13 in Angels Camp
Angels Camp, CA...The Angel Camp Business Association (ACBA) and Frogtown’s Frog Jump Committee have joined forces to create big fun for local kids. “We have been working together informally for the past couple of years,” notes ACBA Vice President Kathy Russell. “We’ve solidified that connection this year, planning ahead together for maximum frog fun.”

They are collaborating on the Junior Jump at Utica Park on May 13 AND the Fun Jump during the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, May 18 -21 at Frogtown in Angels Camp.

The Frog Jump Committee will supply frogs and assist with logistics for the Junior Jump, and in turn, ASBA members will help stage the Fun Jump at Frogtown.

Junior Frog Jump –

May 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Utica Park.

Jumpers may use one of the frogs supplied, or bring their own frogs.

$2 entry fee per jump

Winner will qualify for the Frog Jump Grand Finals at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 21 at Frogtown.

Featuring DJ Dave Metildi.

Refreshments available from The Cowabunga Ice Cream Truck and Mark Twain Elementary School Badger Boosters, serving hot dogs and chips.

Fun Jump at Frogtown –

The Fun Jump operates throughout the Fair, from May 18 – 21.

Hours: Noon to 4 p.m. on May 18; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 19 and 20; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 21.

It is a non-competitive event for Frog Jockeys of all ages without the constraints of competitive jumping. The emphasis is on FUN.

$5 entry fee per jump; Kids jump for $2 on Thursday.

Frogs from this event do not qualify for the Grand Finals, which features the top 50 jumpers who have competed on the Main Stage throughout the event.

Competitive jumpers focus on breaking the World’s Record during the Grand Finals on Sunday, May 21. The record was set in 1986 by the late Lee Giudici with his frog Rosie the Ribiter, who jumped to victory with a hop of 21 feet, 5 ¼ inches.

If a new World’s Record is set on May 21, the jockey will receive $20,000. If not, prize money for the 2023 Grand Finals is $1,000 for first place; $750 for second; and $500 for third.
