Free Movies at the Mountain Ranch Community Club
Laugh it up on Saturday, Oct. 24 when the Mountain Ranch Community Club, 8049 Washington St. in Mountain Ranch, is the site for a bucketload of free comedies. From noon until late in the evening, anyone interested is invited to attend--see all the movies, see some of them, see one of them, come and go. No admission charge. The only condition: if you leave you lose your seat. But you can always come back.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Movies start at noon and continue through 10 p.m.
The movie schedule:
noon: Duck Soup
2 p.m.: Caddyshack
4:30 p.m.: Airplane!
6:30 p.m.: Blazing Saddles
8:30 p.m.: Some Like It Hot

Duck Soup (1933) stars the Marx Brothers, with Groucho as the leader of Freedonia. To his delight, he insults the pretentious leader of Sylvania, and as a result the two countries go to war. Harpo, Chico and Zeppo contribute enthusiastically to the chaos.
Caddyshack (1980), starring Bill Murray, Ted Knight, Rodney Dangerfield and Chevy Chase, makes fun of money, golf, pretension, eccentricity and gophers.
Airplane! (1980) stars Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Julie Hagerty, Robert Hays, Leslie Nielsen and Robert Stack. It’s a spoof of airplane movies. It’s very silly.
Blazing Saddles (1974) is a spoof of Westerns and movies in general. It stars Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn and Harvey Korman. Mostly what you need to know is that it’s a Mel Brooks movie--which means it’s gross, crazy, objectionable and funny.
Some Like It Hot (1959) stars Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe. Tony and Jack escape from the mob disguised as girl musicians and take the train to Florida--but find that the mob has joined them. Several of the crooks find them attractive. Tony falls in love with Marilyn, and Jack finds himself engaged to a playboy millionaire. Everybody’s perfect.
No need to make reservations. If you want to see a movie, just show up.
