Mother Lode Democratic Congressional Candidate Forum on September 19th
Angels Camp, CA...Four Democrats seeking to retire and replace Congressional District 04’s incumbent GOP Representative will make their case at a Congressional Candidate Forum hosted by the Calaveras County Democrats on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp. “The next election is vital to the health, welfare and prosperity of CD-04 and Calaveras County,” said Laura Lowell, chair of Calaveras County Democrats.

“Status quo is no longer an option when it comes to water, agriculture, rural healthcare, jobs and other issues that directly affect our lives in Calaveras.” The event will include introductions, a panel discussion, and time for attendees to meet and talk personally with the contenders, all of whom live full-time in CD-04.

The candidates are:

* Regina Bateson, a political scientist who joined the State Department after 9/11
as a foreign service officer in South America (www.bateson4congress.com).

* Roza Calderon, a geoscientist expert in agricultural land management who
arrived in the U.S. as a 2-year-old political refugee (www.electroza.org).

* Jessica Morse, a security strategist for 10 years with the State Department and
USAID who has hiked the length of CD-04 (www.morse4congress.com).

* Rochelle Wilcox, an appeals lawyer raised by a single mother whose tight budget
included food stamps, school lunches, and public school (www.rochelle2018.com).

“Voters in CD-04 are fortunate to have capable, approachable candidates willing to
fight for our district,” Lowell said. “Our farmers are directly affected by changing
climate, the impact on water resources, extreme heat, and other vital issues, yet in
Congress we see only votes against rural healthcare. It’s unacceptable.”

CD-04’s five-term Rep. Tom McClintock has passed three bills in 9 years (two to
rename post offices) and drew national attention this year when he abruptly left a
town hall meeting as constituents objected in loud voices to his positions including
repealing healthcare and building a Mexican border wall.

The district is immense, made up of six rural counties and parts of four more, and
is home to 722,313 people, ranches, farms, vineyards, gold rush towns, four
glorious national parks, forests, lakes and tall mountains.

California CD-04 Congressional Candidate Forum, Tues., Sept. 19, 6:30 – 8:30
p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room, Bret Harte High School, 364 Murphys Grade
Road, Angels Camp (at the corner of Highway 4 and Murphys Grade Road).
