The 21st Annual Bear Valley Triathlon, September 22
Bear Valley, CA....Due to the recent Sierra fires, this year’s 21st annual Bear Valley Triathlon had to be postponed from it’s original date of September 1st to Sunday, September 22. The picturesque setting of Alpine County, California is the location of the exciting 21st annual Bear Valley Triathlon. The popular central Sierra end-of-summer triathlon tradition will be held on Sunday morning, September 22, at Bear Lake, in Bear Valley Village.

Nestled in a beautiful mountain location, the triathlon course features a 600-yard swim (warm water, close to 70 degrees, wet suits are allowed, but not necessary); a 10.5-mile bike (rolling, climbing loop course); and a 3.4-mile run (rolling road). Air temperature will be approximately 70 degrees by 10:30 a.m. The triathlon will conclude with the awards ceremony, raffle, and a huge barbecue at the nearby, beautiful Bear Valley Lodge.

The Bear Valley Triathlon entry fee is $65.00 advance and $75.00 race day. Team fee (three participants), $185.00 advance and $220.00 race day. Entry fee includes refreshments, T-shirt, awards, raffle ticket, awards, and post-race barbecue lunch. All participants must provide and wear a swim cap for the swim and an ANSI approved bike helmet during the bike.

The traditional On Your Mark Events’ soapstone trophies will be awarded to the 1st overall male and female winners and etched glass trophies will be given to the Masters overall male and female finishers (ages 50 and over). The top three finishers (male and female categories) age groups in ten-year increments to 70-years-old and over, will receive engraved medals. The top male, female, and co-ed teams triathlon teams will also be awarded medals.

· Top Female: 1:02:23

· Top Male Master: 1:04:

To Top Female Master: 1:20:13

· Top Male Team: 1:06:39

· Top Female Team 1:27:20

Race check-in and registration will open at 8:30 a.m., followed by the start-time at 10:00 a.m.

Bear Valley Village is located on Bear Valley Road, just off of Highway 4 in Bear Valley, CA (Alpine County). Following the race, the awards ceremony and barbecue will be held around 1:00 p.m., lunch will be available to non-entrants for $10.00 – $7.00 for kids. For camping information, call the US Forest Service at 209-795-1381.

For lodging accommodations, the Bear Valley Lodge is perfect place for participants to spend their Bear Valley Triathlon weekend.
