Murphys, CA...Celebrate the release of The Optimist, the third album from singer/songwriter Grover Anderson, Friday March 14th at the Stevenot tasting room in Murphys. Featuring "The Lampolier" and "Sick of You", the album was recorded in 2013 at studios in LA, the Bay Area, and Forest Meadows. With contributions from members of The Hot Dark and Oakland artist Jimbo Scott, The Optimist features an array of genres including folk, rock, pop & country while staying true to the storytelling tradition for which Grover is known. 458 Main St, Murphys — 7pm — No cover. Murphys, CA....Our little wine mecca was filled to overflowing on Presidents Weekend. The main draw was Calaveras Winegrape Alliance's 18th Annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend. Visitors could pick special wineglasses from several locations taste and sample the best of the fruits of the vine that our area has to offer. The weekend also serves as a good warmup for the area as the momentum builds for Irish Day that will flood the area with all things green on March 15th....

Murphys, CA...The award-winning watercolor paintings of Bambi Papais will be showcased the month of March at Hovey Winery Tasting Room, 350 A Main St., Murphys. An artist’s reception in her honor will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1 with complimentary appetizers and wine available by the glass for $5. A highly-respected local artist, Papais’ original paintings are in private collections across the country and her prints appear in many galleries nationwide.
