Calaveras Genealogy Society

Murphys, CA... A tour of the Buena Vista Cemetery will be led by cemetery trustee Maureen Elliott at the monthly meeting of the Calaveras Genealogy Society on Tuesday, June 11th from 10-11:30 am, 186 Cemetery Lane, Murphys. Drive through cemetery gates up Cemetery Lane to the top section to park and meet the tour group. Maureen's focus will be "The Unexpected Things Cemeteries Can Reveal to Researchers". Following the tour, we will share a brown bag lunch at Murphys Community Park. Visitors are welcome. To pre-order a picnic lunch call Wendy 728-9796 by June 1st, or bring your own.

Calaveras County, CA...Update 4/28/11: Michael has received some very generous donations from our viewers! The family is so thankful! "I am so excited for him, what a wonderful opportunity he has before him and with his drive to do the best he can, hopefully he will place during the state competition. He is going to go back to the IGA in Copperopolis again tomorrow with his project to answer questions and share what he has discovered. Hopefully by the end of the day he will have reached his goal , he has a baseball game on Saturday morning" States Michael's Grandmother, Cindi Bent.....Local 8th grader, Michael Legge is headed to the State Science Fair! Michael won 1st place at the Calaveras County Science Fair in his division with his project "Mysterious Bacteria vs. Evil Tobacco." Michael is a student at Mark Twain Elementary and needs our help! Here is a letter from Michael: "Hello my name is Michael Legge and I am an 8th grade student at Mark Twain Elementary School. Mark Twain doesn't require students to do science fair projects but I went out and did one on my own. .....

Murphys, CA...The Harbinger Gallery in Murphys will host a special show and sale with watercolorist Todd Abbott Winters throughout the weekend of Oct 9 -10. The artist will be showcasing new original watercolors, limited edition Giclee reproductions, and open edition prints while visiting with patrons all weekend. This is a great opportunity to drop in the gallery any time during the weekend (11am - 5pm Saturday and Sunday) to meet or chat with Todd, who has been showing at the Harbinger since 1994.
