Ebbetts Pass Is now open! Lake Alpine is still producing some big rainbows. The dock is now in and the fishing is excellent. Make sure to call ahead as it does get very windy there. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, and Rapala's behind a small dodger. The Lodge will be open and they will be renting cabins. You can contact the lodge at 209-753-6358. Fly fishermen should try woolly buggers, flying ants, and sparrow nymphs. Bank fishermen should try nightcrawlers, Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Nightcrawlers, floating Power Eggs,and salmon eggs. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails......

14th Annual Trout Fishing Derby at White Pines Lake on Fathers Day, June 15th

White Pines, CA....Sign-ups have started for the 14th Annual Trout Derby at White Pines Lake near Arnold. Open to all, there are 4 age groups plus a two-person team event. Kids 12 and under are free and there is a low $5.00 entry fee for all others. All the entry fees are used to buy trophy sized Trout, which are planted in the lake the night before the derby. Many happy anglers have caught the trout of a lifetime due to this event and new lake records have been established......

Angels Camp Fisherman Wins Angler of the Year for the FLW Outdoor Stren Series!

Angels Camp, CA....Robert Lee, a Professional Bass Fisherman from Angels Camp, wins the Angler of the Year for the FLW Outdoor Stren Series at the Cal Delta on May 14, 2008. His 2008 season total of 717 points edged out runner-up Cody Meyer, who ended the year with 715. For more information you can visit this site to see his stats, etc. by clicking on his picture. Ebbetts Pass Is now open! Memorial weekend is this coming weekend and will be busy in the sierra so reserve your favorite campsite early. Lake Alpine has now thawed and nice fish are being caught. One of our custmers, Max, caught a beautiful rainbow around 10lbs. on Saturday the 17th. Lake Alpine officially opened May 15th. The ramp is not in the water as there is still snow around the banks. Fishing Report and Fishing Winners for New Melones 5/19/08~From Glory Hole Sports

Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,381,541 acre-feet of water. The lake water level dropped almost one foot last week and is at 990 ft. above sea level and 98 ft. from full capacity. Water in the main lake is approximately 70-73 degrees. All ramps are in the water. Angels Boat Ramp is the shallowest ramp. It will come out of the water and be unusable (which often happens in the summer) when the water level drops below 975 ft. above sea level. The full moon has slowed kokanee and trout fishing......

New Melones Lake, CA....Here are the "Catches of the Week"....Bruce Barron of Sonora who went out with guide Bruce Hamby of Sierra Sportfishing. He caught a limit of kokanee weighing up to 2-pounds, 2-ounces, on an Uncle Larry's copper/blue/pink spinner behind a Vance's silver dodger trolled 55 feet deep in the main lake between Black Bart Cove and the spillway......
