Music by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Brahms highlights the upcoming spring symphony concert by the Orchestra of the Mother Lode Friends of Music, under the direction of Henrik Jul Hansen. Two performances are scheduled. Eco-tourists and aspiring artists alike will enjoy the opportunity to visit Hetch Hetchy and appreciate the grandeur of the landscape during the annual rebirth of waterfalls and wildflowers in spring. Attendees will make their own artistic impressions while exploring and discussing the natural history of the place John Muir called “one of nature's rarest and most precious mountain temples” while participating in these interpretive sessions. Angels Camp, CA...Over the weekend the Greater Yosemite Boy Scout Council held it's Annual recognition banquet in Modesto. From the Mother Lode area Lynn Bartlett, Sierra Hills Stone and Rich Kotowski, her Eagle scout escort attended. Lynn was recognized at the event for helping the National Boy Scouts revise their Sculpture merit badge book. That merit badge book now has three scouts from Angels....

Murphys, CA...Celebrating its Celtic heritage, which dates back to the Gold Rush era, the town of Murphys each year stages one of the most popular events in the Mother Lode. This year’s Murphys Irish Day will be held Saturday, March 15th.
The day will begin with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church on the corner of Church and Algiers Sts. Presented by the Murphys Business Association, the Main St. festivities will start at 10 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. There is no admission charge....
