The Murphys Community Park Music Series Kicks Off On Memorial Day |

Murphys, CA...Monday, May 25, 6:30 p.m. – Memorial Day Concert – Calaveras Community Band. The 2015 music season in Murphys Community Park will get a rousing patriotic kick-off when the Calaveras Community Band presents a special Memorial Day concert under the direction of conductor Mic Harper on Monday, May 25, at 6:30 p.m. There is no admission charge for the program that will honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces in the past and those currently stationed around the world. The band, that traces its history to California’s gold rush days, will perform a mixture of patriotic songs, Sousa marches, and show tunes, as well as unforgettable oldies. Families and other members of the community are invited to pack a picnic dinner and enjoy this start of the season concert. There will not be any food or beverages for sale in the park. Murphys Community Park is located on Algiers St. in historic downtown Murphys.

Frogtown, CA...The 2015 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee Kicks Off May 14!! Below is a full Tentative Schedule for Opening Day. The Youth Parade is at 10am in Downtown Angels Camp at 10am. At 2pm the Saddle Queen Competition—Arena and at 8pm Miss Calaveras Scholarship Pageant.

Local veterans will participate and over 60 of them practiced recently getting ready for the event. Junior Miss Calaveras Crowned, Jr. Frog Jump Winners Announced |

Angels Camp, CA...The Junior Miss Calaveras Pageant and Junior Frog Jump were held concurrently on Saturday, May 9 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Altaville Melones Fire District station in Angels Camp. The Junior Miss Calaveras Queen and her court are as follows: QUEEN: Devyn Pryor, 12 of Avery Middle School, 1st Princess: Alexis Watt, 13 of Mark Twain Elementary, 2nd Princess: Mallory Wainwright, 14 of Mark Twain Elementary. Devin is a 7th grader at Avery Middle School, Alexis and Mallory attend Mark Twain. This year, many activities were added to the scoring criteria. The following girls were given awards for these new activities:Sponsorship: Alexis, Most ticket sales: Brooke Nord, Best Interview: Devyn, Highest Score on Written Test: Devyn, Best Speech: Devyn. The Junior Miss Calaveras competition was open to all county 7th and 8th grade girls. The queen and her court will appear in the upcoming Frog Jump parade on Thursday, May 14 and the Jr. Queen will be presented at the Calaveras county fair....

Copperopolis Town Square Holds Inaugural Frog Jump |

Copperopolis, CA…The Copperopolis Town Square was center of the Frog Jump world on Friday as they held their Inaugural Frog Jump. Ron Dwelley and crew brought the Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jump Frogmobile and Frogs to The Square last Friday. Merchants and visitors took their shot at Frog Jump glory. This year’s event was a fun jump and next year’s event will be a fully sanctioned jump where participants can qualify for the Frog Jump Finals. Donna Stevenson & John Riberia tied with jumps of 8 feet two inches. Make plans now to attend the Frog Jump and when you pass through Copperopolis make sure you stop at Copperopolis Town Square...

The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce and the Friends Of The Fair event has become a staple on the calendar the week before Fair & Frog Jump every year. The well attended event featured many from the business community and also offered an opportunity for Calaveas Saddle Queen and Miss Calaveras contestants to get their speeches tuned up and also practice kissing a few frogs...

It has since become a “movement”, spanning 30 cities, now making its way to the Sierra Foothills via Petroglyphe Gallery. The trio is composed of guitar, trumpet and alto saxophone, plus woodwinds.
