At this fundraising event for Foothill Conservancy, acclaimed actor Lee Stetson will be performing as the famous naturalist John Muir. Stetson is considered an expert on Muir, and has portrayed the historical figure in countless venues around the country. Stetson also portrayed Muir in Ken Burn’s award-winning series National Parks – America’s Best Idea....

With 10,000 Baby Boomers now turning age 65 each day, researchers in our community are racing to find a cure, and alleviate the burden that this memory-robbing disease places on the 5 million people currently living with Alzheimer’s. KVIE’s latest ViewFinder documentary, Fading Away: Alzheimer’s takes viewers inside the lives of those living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, and explores the local research being done to understand this disease with no known cure.

San Andreas, CA...This unique fundraising event, a collaboration between the Calaveras Arts Council and the local Soroptimist club, runs from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the San Andreas Town Hall. The evening will feature art, music, a no-host bar, buffet dinner catered by the Pickle Patch, fabulous raffle baskets and other items. Julie Youngblood will host rousing rounds of Xtreme Musical Chairs, a real crowd pleaser in the past. Murphys, CA....Plans for the 2015 Murphys Irish Day, the popular community celebration that each year draws upwards of 10,000 people to the historic Gold Rush town, are well under way. Always presented on the third Saturday in March by the Murphys Business Association (MBA), this year’s event will be held Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. One of the first orders of business is the creation of the Irish Day Parade that will wend its way down Main St. to the swirl of bagpipes starting promptly at 11 a.m. Recognized as one of the premiere parades in the Mother Lode, it always presents a wide array Irish-themed floats, marching bands, youth groups, community organizations, classic cars and other motorized vehicles. Local fire departments and law enforcement are well represented and there is bound to be a leprechaun or two...
