Bear Valley, CA...The snow has been cleared and sunshine and higher temps are on the way so Caltrans has reopened both Hwy 4 and Hwy 108 for the weekend. Now would be the perfect weekend to catch some our local high country splendor. Local Videographer and Sierra Sentry Owner Sandi Pierce produced a great video of the Ebbetts Pass Area for the Scenic Byway Celebration this year...

Jamestown, CA...With fall just around the corner, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) is proud to offer crowd-pleasing “Harvest Haunt Express” train rides on four upcoming consecutive weekends: October 8-9, October 15-16, October 22-23 and October 29-30. Staffed by a “skeleton crew,” the popular train rides take place aboard an excursion train that departs on-the-hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Saturdays, the excursion train will be pulled by Sierra No. 3 (the “Movie Star Locomotive”) and on Sundays by a vintage diesel locomotive.....

Excitement builds for “Dancing with the Sierra Stars” Saturday October 8th

Five couples have rehearsed for the past few months and will show their dancing skills on October 8th at Ironstone Vineyards in support of the Angels Camp Family Medical Center. To make the evening even more fun, the theme will be “Unveil the Night”, a Venetian Gala with masks, fabulous live auction items and a Treasure Chest. The live auction includes an imperial bottle of local Barberas grown by Hatcher, La Folia and Frog’s Tooth Wineries in Murphys (blended by Matt Hatcher) that will be presented in a specially designed box by Cabinets n More....
