Petroglyphe Gallery Opens 2014 Concert Series |

Mokelumne Hill, CA....Petroglyphe Gallery announces their 2014 musical concert series featuring the works of three internationally renowned musicians. The 2014 series will open on April 27 with a performance by Chilean-born flutist, Viviana Guzman. Cellist, Erik Alvarez Urbina, will perform on May 18, while Motoshi Kosako will return for his third concert at the gallery on August 24. Enjoy wine and light appetizers in the gallery before the show. Seating is limited and tickets are on sale now at Petroglyphe Gallery -- stop by, call, or email to purchase. Murphys, CA...Celebrate the release of The Optimist, the third album from singer/songwriter Grover Anderson, Friday March 14th at the Stevenot tasting room in Murphys. Featuring "The Lampolier" and "Sick of You", the album was recorded in 2013 at studios in LA, the Bay Area, and Forest Meadows. With contributions from members of The Hot Dark and Oakland artist Jimbo Scott, The Optimist features an array of genres including folk, rock, pop & country while staying true to the storytelling tradition for which Grover is known. 458 Main St, Murphys — 7pm — No cover. Tuolumne, CA...Tickets are now on sale for The Straits performance at Black Oak Casino Resort on March 26th. The Straits is comprised of Dire Straits' Alan Clark and Chris White with five hand-picked, world class musicians - Terence Reis, Steve Ferrone from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mickey Féat, Adam Phillips and Jamie Squire. As of now, Black Oak Casino Resort is the only stop in California on their U.S. tour. Dire Straits’ legacy is alive and well thanks to the musicians who made history with the band. Straits' keyboard player and former Dire Straits member and producer Alan Clark began the process two years ago in Rome. “Dire Straits' sax player Chris and I were having breakfast beside a pool one beautiful, sunny morning when I declared we were going to form The Straits,” says Clark....

Calaveras Community Band's Annual Fall Concert to Benefit Rosendo Rojas |

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Community Band’s annual fall concert will take on special meaning when it is presented Sunday, November 3, 3 p.m. in the Dr. Elliot A. Smart Performing Arts Center at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp. Although there is no admission charge, donations will be solicited with all proceeds going to the family of Rosendo Rojas, of Vallecito, the band’s percussionist throughout his middle and high school years. The young man is battling a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer involving surgery and extended treatment. “Rosendo is a beloved member of our band family,” states bandmaster Mic Harper. “He has been courageous during this terrible ordeal and we want to do something to demonstrate our support and affection.”

Karaoke National Championships Held at Black Oak Casino This Last Weekend |

Tuolumne City, CA... The Karaoke National Championships were held over the weekend at Black Oak Casino. Kim Evans, of Arnold, won the Nationals and will be going to Finland in November. Kim will be the only female, along with the male national winner, who will be representing the U.S. in the Karaoke World Championships....
