Moderate Injuries to Sonora Man in Tuolumne Road Collision

Sonora, CA...On Friday, September 14, 2018, at approximately 8:00 PM, 22 year old Tuolumne resident, Savannah McNeil, was driving a 2005 Ford 500, stopped westbound, within the westbound traffic lane of Tuolumne Rd, in preparation to turn left into a private driveway west of Morris Road,yielding to oncoming eastbound traffic. 21 year old Sonora Resident, Joseph Davis, was driving a 2014 Toyota Tacoma westbound, in the westbound traffic lane of Tuolumne Rd, at a speed in excess of 40 mph, approaching to the rear of McNeil's vehicle. 50 year old Los Banos resident, Louis Mendez was driving a 2005 GMC Sierra eastbound, within the eastbound traffic lane of Tuolumne Rd, at approximately 55 mph approaching the area McNeil from the west. For unknown reasons, Davis failed to observe McNeil's vehicle stopped directly ahead in his path of travel. Due to Davis' unsafe speed, the right front of Davis' vehicle collided with the left rear of McNeil's vehicle.

Calaveras Sheriff K9 Nox has Stylish New Eye Protection

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office K9 Nox and Corporal Jim Moser received an essential piece of protective equipment this week. This donation of Rex Specs was made possible through the Friends Of Calaveras Sheriff’s Office and K9 Tactical, whose owner Brandon Griffin lives locally and is a private K9 Trainer where citizens can take their dogs for obedience training. The Rex Specs goggles for Sheriff K9 Nox protect against almost anything imaginable from dust and debris from rotor wash during helicopter deployments to punctures from sticks and thorns while working in thick brush.

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."A Sheriff’s Deputy had spotted smoke while driving on Stockton Road and notified Dispatch to start Fire units his way. He did not stop there. The deputy got out of his patrol car looking for the flames. When he found them he sprung into action by using his hands to dig a containment line in front of the fire to slow it down. Fire crews arrived and made quick work to extinguish the fire. Team work at its finest to provide the best service to our community.

CDCR Honors Staff at 33rd Annual Medal of Valor Ceremony

Elk Grove, CA...The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) honored 68 employees today during its 33rd annual Medal of Valor Ceremony. “Today, we honor heroes who have been placed in situations that call for action that is above and beyond the normal demands of duty,” said acting CDCR Secretary Ralph Diaz. “While facing danger or adversity, many of these men and women have demonstrated split-second decision making, bravery and integrity.”

68 Year Old Mi-Wuk Village Man Arrested on Firearm, Meth Charges & More

Mi-Wuk Village, CA....From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."Update Sept.12th: Deputies were dispatched to the area of Pine Lake Dr. in Mi-Wuk Village for a report of suspicious person, shooting. Two shots were heard by deputies while on scene. A civilian contacted our office while deputies were on scene and advised the man, later identified as 68-year-old Frank Pierro, pointed a rifle at him as he drove by.

Thousands of Plants and Hundreds of Pounds of Marijuana Eradicated

Valley Springs, CA...On September 12, 2018 the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant onto an undeveloped piece of private property located off of South Gulch Road near Milton Road in Valley Springs. Upon arrival, Deputies encountered three males who were tending to approximately 40 marijuana plants. No permanent residence was present on the land, however, a travel trailer was on site.

Sonora Man Arrested on Arson Charges

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Dept..."On September 10, 2018 at about 7:59pm, Stanley Jesse Wooden, of Sonora, was arrested for arson, which took place on September 6, 2018 at the Intake Grill. The investigation is still active. Wooden was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail for arson of an inhabited building with a bail of $75,000.00.

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Dept..."Early Saturday morning, just before 1:00 a.m., we received a call from the Emergency Room concerning a patient who was being treated for a possible stab wound. Officers responded and contacted a 28-year-old male victim with a small puncture wound to his neck and a laceration to one of his fingers.

Tuolumne Sheriff's Office Looking For Car Thief

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Office...."Tuolumne County, you are our eyes and ears out in the community. We need your help in our search for a car thief. Around 2 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, one of our deputies was driving west on Campo Seco Road in Jamestown when he saw a silver Jeep SUV stopped in the eastbound lane with its headlights on. When the deputy passed the vehicle, he heard the Jeep start and then jump forward before stalling.
