Angels Camp Resident Reports Suspicious Activity

Angels Camp, CA...On May 6, 2018 at approximately 7:00 AM, the Angels Camp Police Department received a call from a resident in the 600 block of Gardner Lane reporting a suspicious circumstance. The resident was sitting in a vehicle in her driveway when she witnessed a blue PT Cruiser stop on the street near her driveway. She watched as the driver of the PT Cruiser remained in the vehicle and two males exited the PT Cruiser. The two males walked up to a second vehicle that was parked in the resident's driveway. The male subjects attempted to open the door of the second vehicle and were unable to gain access. When the males turned around, they saw the resident sitting in the first vehicle. The males then returned to the PT Cruiser and left the area.

Angels Camp, CA...On May 8, 2018 at approximately 7:40 AM, the Angels Camp Police Department received a report of an unresponsive male with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound laying in the Altaville Cemetery District's Catholic Cemetery, off of Stockton Road.

Sonora Resident Arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Resisting Arrest

Angels Camp, CA...On May 4, 2018 at approximately 8:45 PM an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a 2003 Volkswagen Passat on South Main Street near Monte Verda Street for expired registration. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 38 year old Sonora Resident, Daniel Everett. While speaking to Everett, the officer noticed signs that Everett was possibly under the influence of drugs while driving and asked him to complete Field Sobriety Tests (FSTs) to determine if he was intoxicated. Everett agreed to submit to the tests and stepped out of his vehicle. An additional officer arrived to assist the first officer while they completed the FSTs.

Emailed Threat Received by Calaveras County Office of Education

Angels Camp, CA...Today, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a report that staff at the Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE) received a generalized emailed bomb threat. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the email threat that did not mention a specific school or school district. The Angels Camp Police Department is aware of the email, and while we do not consider this a credible threat, as a precautionary measure there will be an increased police presence on our school campuses.

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE) that a generalized emailed bomb threat was received today by CCOE staff. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the email threat that did not mention a specific school or school district. Over 4,000 Marijuana Plants Eradicated at Burson Residence.

Burson, CA...On 5-3-18 members of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a residence in the 5000 block of Southworth Road in Burson for illegal marijuana cultivation. On this 5 acre parcel with a single story residence, investigators found numerous cargo containers and enclosed structures that had been converted for growing marijuana indoors. Several large industrial sized generators were running to power many of the grow rooms. These generators were enclosed in structures with insulation and foam padding around the interior walls. Although the interior of the residence itself did not contain any growing marijuana, the entire front yard surrounding an empty in ground pool had several thousand marijuana plants growing in pots.

Major Injuries to Tuolumne Man in Copperopolis Area Collision

Copperopolis, CA...A 62 year old Tuolumne man was riding his 2008 Harley Davidson on O'Byrnes Ferry Road, south of Duchess Drive at approximately 50-55 mph. For an unknown reason, he made an unsafe turn on his bike. When he made this unsafe turn, he allowed the motorcycle to leave the roadway and enter the west shoulder. When the Harley entered the west shoulder, it collided with the dirt embankment. He was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained major injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center.

85 Arrested in Orange County "Mexican Mafia" Gang Takedown

Santa Anna, CA...Attorney General Xavier Becerra and Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens today announced the arrest of 85 individuals; seizure of 36 firearms, including assault weapons; seizure of 14 pounds of methamphetamine and three pounds of heroin; and the recovery of two stolen vehicles, as part of an investigation of Mafia members and associates operating in Orange County.
