TRAFFIC NEWS....Confirmed Solo Vehicle Roll Over Causes Fatality This Afternoon in Valley Springs

Valley Springs, CA...CHP is reporting a solo vehicle roll over fatality this afternoon in Valley Springs at Camanche Parkway at Crystal. It looks like a conversion van went off the roadway then rolled over. The driver apparently perished at the scene. We will keep you posted as we know more. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family at this very difficult time. We have not received the name of the deceased as of 11:45pm this evening due to contacting next of kin. We will let you know as soon as we do.

Escaped Debris Burn Official Cause of 2 Acre Vegetation Fire on Red Hill Road. Video Enclosed...

Angels Camp, CA...CAL Fire has sent us the official fire report on the 2 acre vegetation fire that occurred on Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:pm. The official cause is an escaped debris burn that spread to 2 acres of vegetation. No dollar damage or injuries reported. CAL Fire report is enclosed....

TRAFFIC NEWS....Ambulance Responding to Vehicle Collision at Hwy 49(UPDATED)

CHP is reporting an ambulance is responding to a vehicle collision at Hwy 49 just south of the Mokelumne River. We will keep you posted if needed. This is apparently a minor injury. Thank goodness.

Two New Fire Engines Now in Service in Angels Camp ~By Hanna Heath

Angels Camp, CA….Last year the Angels Camp Fire Department in Angels Camp applied for and received a Community Development Block Grant Fund Money from state and federal funding agencies. Angels Camp Fire Department had two engines before receiving the grant money, engine 213 and engine 215. Engine 213 was purchased in 1998 making the engine over ten years old, which needed to be retired as a full time response engine. The department started brainstorming and came up with the idea of purchasing two new engines that could better serve the community during an emergency situation……….

Twain Harte Temporary Issuance Location

San Andreas, CA... Due to the construction of the new CAL FIRE Twain Harte fire station, CAL FIRE will be issuing dooryard burn permits, evacuation plans, fire safety education materials, and fire hazard self inspection notices at the Twain Harte Chamber of Commerce. The address is 22997 Joaquin Gully Road in downtown Twain Harte. Permits will be available at the Chamber location starting Thursday, May 1st running through Monday, May 12th between the hours of 8:00AM and 5:00PM.

Burn Hours Restricted

San Andreas, CA....On Thursday, May 1, 2008, burn permits will be required within Tuolumne and Calaveras counties. Burning hours will be restricted to 7PM to 8AM on permissive burn days. Conditions are volatile in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties and both counties have experienced high, gusty winds on a regular basis this year, more than in previous years. The combination of low fuel moistures and high winds generally leads to an increase of escaped debris burns. These escaped debris burns threaten lives, property and forest....

San Andreas, CA....The Calaveras County Sheriffs Association hosted a Candidates Night on Thursday eve at San Andreas Town Hall. All nine Supervisor Candidates were invited to share their platforms and share their visions for Calaveras County. They had to answer some pretty difficult questions to a crowd of approximately 100. The questions were prepared by the Sheriffs Department as John Hamilton, Moderator asked each question.....

CHP is reporting a Traffic Hazard at Hwy 49 just south of Mokelumne Hill. A car towing a camp trailer lost a wheel in the lane. Please use caution in the area.

Sonora, CA…The Forest Service today announced that the Stanislaus National Forest (NF) Groveland Ranger District’s Lumsden Road, also known as Forest Road 1N10, is now open for public travel from its gated intersection with Ferretti Road to South Fork Campground.....

Big Trees, CA...Reports are coming in that the Calaveras Bomb Squad and members of an armed services explosives unit spent quite a bit of time at a residence in the Big Trees area. We just spoke with Captain Clay Hawkins of the Calaveras Bomb Squad and they were called in at the request of a detective who was working a related case. They found quite a stash of explosives. There were several 105mm Howitzer shells, 8 40mm rounds, Numerous 20mm rounds and one Sabot Rounds There was also...
