CHP Release in on MVA that Occurred This Morning

San Andreas, CA....We just received the CHP release on the motor vehicle accident that occurred this morning at 8am at Little John Road North of Quiver Street. There was one adult from Copperopolis and three children also of Copperopolis that were transported to different local hospitals with minor injuries. Apparently the driver of a 90 Toyota was traveling northbound on Little John Road at a speed of 50-55mph. As she was negotiating a curve in the roadway, her vehicle started to fishtail. She then hit her brakes and lost control of her vehicle eventually overturning. The full CHP release is enclosed.....

Hit and Run Accident on Murphys Grade Road.

Murphys, CA...A 71 year old Murphys man was rear ended by an Arnold man on Saturday on Murphys Grade Rd. There was moderate damage to the victims car and an undetermined amount of damage to the other vehicle....

Angels Camp, CA….This afternoon the Annual Volunteer Firefighter Academy held training at Angels Camp Fire Department Station 2. The training agenda included hose evolutions, hose lays, portable water sources, pumps and large diameter hose. Bill Fullerton, coordinator of the fire academy stated, “The academy gives volunteer firefighters the basic firefighter training and techniques.” ……..

Wright's Creek Prescribed Burn to Begin on 4/21/08

On April 21, 2008 the Mi-Wok Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest, will begin the 400 acre Wright's Creek prescribed burn project, located approximately 4 miles south of Long Barn in the Tuolumne River drainage near Fahey Meadow, and north of Marble Mountain. Over a five day period, approximately 400 acres will be treated with low intensity fire, depending on conditions. Smoke will be visible in the area, and from Highway 108....

Parolee Arrested on Drug Charges

Valley Springs, CA...On April 8, 2008, at approximately 2:15pm, Sheriff's Detectives and members of the Narcotics Team received information that a parolee at large was in the Valley Springs area. Detectives identified the suspect and attempted to contact the parole agent, and the suspect fled on a BMX style bicycle. After a short chase the suspect crashed his bicycle. Calaveras County Sheriff's Volunteer Unit Has Exceeded 10,000 Hours of Service 3rd Year in a Row!

Calaveras County, CA....Don Crouch, Calaveras County Sheriff's Volunteer Operations Lieutenant, reported today that the Volunteer Unit exceeded 10,000 service hours for the third consecutive year. This outstanding performance is unprecedented in the 19 year history of the Sheriff's Volunteers. Several active volunteers retired from the unit in 2007 resulting in 1,000 hour drop in service work, from a high of 11,600 hours in 2006.....

Search Warrant Leads To Indoor Marijuana Grow

Angels Camp, CA...On 4/10/08 a search warrant was served at a residence in the 1200 block of S Summit Rd, Angels Camp, to investigate a possible indoor marijuana grow. A search was conducted by members of the Calaveras County Narcotic Enforcement Unit. A make shift room containing 66 marijuana plants in various stages of production was located. The marijuana was seized, as well as, 11 high voltage lights used to grow....

More Fires To Report

CAL Fire has reported four more fires that occurred this week....This is way too early for this. On April 8th there was a flue fire at 15138 Hwy 26 in Glencoe. The residence was occupied at the time of the fire but thankfully, there were no injuries. The 2nd was a vegetation fire on April 8th at 8727 Fricot City Road and Ponderosa Way caused by an escaped debris burn. The third was an escaped embers from a burn pile that caused damage to a small out building at 19085 Jesus Maria Road in Mountain Ranch. Damages are estimated at $600. The fourth was a vegetation fire from an escaped debris burn that occurred at 1540 Skull Flat Road in West Point. The fire was contained to 1/2 acre of vegetation. The CAL Fire reports are enclosed.....

Another Fire Being Reported Early This Morning

Vallecito, CA....Crews are still on scene and mopping up a structure fire at 2866 Hwy 4 in Vallecito that began at 1:42am this morning. There is no injuries reported. A s story residential structure was involved with damage to one wall and 1/2 of the roof. No dollar estimate is being released at this time. Cause is under investigation.
