64 Year Old Modesto Man Perishes After His Vehicle Plunges Into Lake Don Pedro

Don Pedro, CA...On September 11, 2024, at approximately 12:00am, 64-year-old Donald Baker from Modesto drove his 2015 Kia sedan to the Flemming Meadows boat ramp area at Lake Don Pedro. Mr. Baker backed his vehicle down an embankment towards the water line and for an unknown reason, the vehicle suddenly accelerated backwards into the water. While the vehicle was in the water, Mr. Baker called 911 for help.

46 Year Old Man Loses His Life in Fatal Hwy 26 Collision

Valley Springs, CA...San Andreas CHP released the following details on this afternoon's fatal collision. "On September 5, 2024, at approximately 1301 hours, CHP was dispatched to a collision which occurred on SR-26 east of Gold Creek Drive in Valley Springs, CA. Vehicle 1, (V-1) the only vehicle involved in the collision, was traveling on SR-26 eastbound, just east of Gold Creek Drive. For an unknown reason, V-1 crossed through the westbound lane of SR-26, traveled off the roadway and into a field on the north side of SR-26. V-1 then collided with a tree and the driver of V-1, (44 y/o male) suffered injuries resulting in his death. The passenger of V-1, (30 y/o female) suffered major injuries and was subsequently transported by ground ambulance to San Joaquin General Hospital in Stockton, CA."

Follow-Up Search Over the Weekend Locates Michael Moore

Sonora, CA...Over the weekend, Tuolumne County Sheriff Search and Rescue (SAR), with the assistance of SAR volunteers from California Rescue Dog Association (CARDA), Wilderness Finders Search Dogs Teams (WOOF), Santa Clara County SAR, Bay Area Mountain Rescue (BAMRU), Cal-SAR and Monterey County SAR, conducted a follow-up search for 71-year-old Michael Moore. Follow up efforts focused on re-searching areas near the location Michael’s pack and dog had been found with Human Remains Detection (HRD) dogs and ground searching additional areas outside the previous search area.

Human Remains Found in Stanislaus River Canyon

Sonora, CA...On Thursday, August 29th, 2024, at about 7:15 in the evening, TCSO received a report of human remains located by a dirt biker within the Stanislaus River Canyon near the area of Keltz Mine Road. Deputies with the assistance of TCSO Search and Rescue (SAR) utilized a side-by-side to access the area and hiked in. Due to the steep terrain and darkness causing difficulty accessing the scene, they left the area with plans to return the following morning.

September is National Cold Case Month

San Andreas, CA...September has been designated as National Cold Case Month and is a call to action for agencies nationwide to bring attention to unsolved cases. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is the host agency for the Calaveras County Cold Case Task Force, which also includes members from the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office, the Angels Camp Police Department, and the Calaveras County Coroner’s Office.
