Major Injures to David Moore when His Scooter Went Down on Hwy 49 |

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Moore was riding his Yamaha Majesty scooter northbound on SR-49 north of Gold Rush Lane in "13 Curves". He was unable to negotiate a left hand curve and his Yamaha overturned, causing Moore to be ejected from his Yamaha. Moore sustained major injuries due to the collision and was life flighted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of his injuries.

Ione, CA...Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) recently held its fifth annual Junior Corrections Academy. The Junior Academy was designed to give the children of MCSP employees a chance to learn more about the job their parents do every day and to expose them to the field of Corrections Law Enforcement. On July 16, 44 participants, ranging in age from 8 to 15 years old, started a week-long junior academy where they received instruction on a wide range of topics which included: Fire Suppression, Social Media Security, Firearms Familiarization, Basic First Aid, Crime Scene Preservation, Contraband and Drug Interdiction and Crisis Response Team weapons and tactics.

Calaveras MET Team Assists DFW with Marijuana Eradication |

Copperopolis, CA...On 08/13/2018 Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team deputies assisted the California Department of Fish and Wildlife with the service of a warrant in the rural area of Heiser Canyon near Copperopolis. No subjects were located upon arrival. Several scientists from the California State Water Board as well as Senior Environmental Scientists from the Department of Fish and Wildlife assisted in the investigation.

This morning during a public Promotional / Hiring / Affirmation of Office Ceremony, Sheriff Rick DiBasilio proudly swore in a large group of recently hired or promoted Sheriff’s employees. The list included the promotion of one patrol sergeant, three corporals, two senior dispatchers and two correctional officer corporals.

Hay Bales Cause Sacramento Area Couple's Death in Hwy 88 Motorcycle Collision |

Kirkwood, CA...On 8-10-2018 at approximately 1105 hours, Jim Hutton a resident of Sacramento and his passenger, Theresa Lish a resident of Auburn were traveling eastbound at approximately 50 miles per hour on their 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle on SR-88 behind 5 other motorcycles in a group. When they were east of Mormon Emigrant Trail, Mr. Hutton was in the last or trail position behind the rest of the group and a pickup truck. Approximately .1 miles east of Mormon Emigrant trail a semi truck with two trailers loaded with large bales of Alfalfa hay, driven by Timothy Roe, a resident of Hanford was traveling westbound rounding a right hand curve in the roadway approaching the group of motorcycles.

Two Days of MET Team Marijuana Eradications |

San Andreas, CA...Over the past two days, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team has served several search warrants for illegal marijuana cultivation. On 8-8-18 Sheriff’s Deputies served search warrants at adjoining properties in the 6000 block of Fullen Road near Murphys. Three subjects were initially detained upon arrival and deputies found illegal marijuana cultivation spanning across the two properties. 647 marijuana plants were eradicated and approx. 93 pounds of marijuana in various stages of processing were seized. One subject, John Le (age 42 of San Jose) was arrested for 11358H&S-illegal marijuana cultivation, 11359H&S-possess marijuana for sale, and 11366H&S-maintain a drug house. He was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Motorcycle Collision Takes Life of 49 Year Old Stockton Man |

Ione, CA...On August 4th at approximately 1:43pm Carl W. Hudson, 49 from Stockton lost his life near Buena Vista Road and Hwy 88. He was riding his 2011 Kawasaki ZX10 southbound on Buena Vista Road, south of Hwy 88 at a high rate of speed. The road is currently under construction and road closed barricades have been placed just south of the entrance to Ace's Waste Station.
