Warrant Scam Making the Rounds in Tuolumne County |

Sonora, CA...Our office has received numerous inquiries regarding scammers calling local residents from the Sheriff’s Office phone number. These scammers are claiming to be deputies with our office and are using active and retired deputies names when identifying themselves. The scammers are telling residents they have warrants for their arrest and are requesting personal identifying information and/or money as a result of said warrant.

West Point, CA...On October 30th at about 7:00PM Detectives located Missing Person Kaylee at a residence in West Point. After a lengthy investigation by detectives three persons were arrested in connection with the case.

Vehicle Stolen From Angels Camp Located & Recovered in Sonora |

Angels Camp, CA...The stolen Dodge Durango was located in Sonora on October 28, 2020. The vehicle had been spray painted and was missing the battery. The vehicle was towed to a nearby tow yard and the owner was notified. The Crown Victoria has been located and the current owner has been contacted. Officers continue to investigate this case. Missing Juvenile in West Point Area |

West Point, CA...Update- Kaylee is still missing. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division has continued to investigate all leads. As part of the ongoing investigation, detectives have contacted the male adult who was mentioned in an allied agency press release. At this time the male is not currently being sought in connection to this case. Please discontinue "Sharing" any previously released law enforcement flyers regarding the male. Kaylee was reported missing on Oct. 22nd, 2020 and was last seen in West Point, CA at a friend’s house. Kaylee left prior to being picked up by her grandmother. At the time of the initial report, Kaylee was listed as a voluntary or at-will missing person and considered a possible runaway juvenile.

Jackson, CA...From the Amador Sheriff's Office last eve..."Earlier this evening deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit with Jesse Cota, who had a felony warrant and was involved in two recent shootings in Merced County. Cota was spotted leaving the Jackson Rancheria Casino and when deputies attempted a traffic stop, he refused to pull over. Cota lead the chasing deputies into San Joaquin County, where he eventually pulled over and was taken into custody without incident."

Roberts, Jr., will administer the Judicial Oath to the Honorable Amy Coney Barrett, as the 103rd Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, in a private ceremony, October 27, 2020, in the East Conference Room at the Supreme Court. Upon administration of that oath, she will be able to begin to participate in the work of the Court.

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom today filed an amicus brief in People v. McDaniel, a case before the California Supreme Court that involves issues of racial bias in jury deliberation and sentencing decisions. This filing marks the first time in California history that a sitting governor has filed an amicus brief calling attention to the unfair and uneven application of the death penalty, noting the state’s bedrock responsibility to ensure equal justice under the law applies to all people no matter their race. The brief argues that capital cases should require unanimity in the jury’s penalty verdict and proof beyond a reasonable doubt of disputed aggravating evidence.

Sheriff’s Office Participated in Trunk or Treat Event & Reminds us to Be Safe During Halloween |

San Andreas, CA...On October 24th, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office participated in a “Trunk or Treat” at Jenny Lind Elementary School. Trunk-or-Treat is a Halloween tradition in which parked cars are decorated in the spirit of Halloween and filled with candy. Participants bring their cars to a central location where event goers view them. In some rural areas it is a safe and efficient alternative to traditional trick or treating. Deputies from Marine Safety, SWAT and K-9 were on scene. Deputies handed out candy and shared safety tips with the participants.
