Local Pair Arrested After Using Facebook to Advertise Their Drug Sales |

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Dept...Facebook post leads to drug, gun, and child endangerment arrests. On April 22, 2019, at about 10:35pm, a Facebook post caught the attention of a Sonora resident. The post was advertising marijuana for sale. A SPD Officer contacted the person who posted the message and set up a meeting to buy some of the marijuana. The meeting place ended up being in Jamestown.

Drive Through Hotel Room Experiment Leads to DUI Arrest |

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Department..."On Thursday, April 18th, at about 6:45 pm, the Sonora Police Department received a call that a vehicle had crashed into a hotel room, located at 350 S. Washington Street. When the patrol Sergeant arrived on scene, he located 61-year-old Susan Steinmetz of Wisconsin still seated behind the wheel of her 2008 Honda Pilot. The Honda Pilot had launched over a retaining wall and into an unoccupied hotel room. Steinmetz told the Sergeant that she hit the gas instead of the brake while attempting to park.

Murphys, CA...Albert Eugene Courtright left this world very suddenly on April 14, 2019 in Murphys, California.Albert was born November 10, 1942 to Eugene and Francis Courtright in San Diego, California. From there the family settled in Taft, California. He graduated from Bakersfield High School and attended Fresno State University. He served in the United States Marine Corp. as a reserve for two years and he was very proud to have served his country. His Military background helped prepare him for his life in Law Enforcement. In 1966 he joined the California Highway Patrol, his first post in 1967 was in Baldwin Park, in Los Angeles County where he served as a motorcycle officer. In 1971 he transferred the San Andreas office of the California Highway Patrol. In 1973 he started his Residence Post in Arnold. His beat was from the top of Ebbetts Pass to Hathaway Pines. He also performed the duty of EMT with his Residence Post because he was always the first on the scene on his beat. In 1997 after 31 years of service he retired. In 1998 he joined the Calaveras County Sheriff Department where he served as a Boat Officer in the summer and a Court Bailiff in the winter. He served at the Sheriffs Dept. for 20 years.

Marijuana Grow House Eradicated in Valley Springs |

Valley Springs, CA...On April 23rd 2019 the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation at a residence in the 2000 block of Berkesey Dr., Valley Springs. During the service of the search warrant an indoor marijuana operation was located. Investigators discovered the interior of the residence had been converted into several individual growing rooms. A total of 401 marijuana plants and 13 pounds of processed marijuana were seized.
