Angels Camp, CA...(Frogtown, USA)...The event is a Friends of the Calaveras County Fair fundraiser. All proceeds benefit improvements to the Fairgrounds. The show is at 5:30 p.m., Gates open at 3 p.m. There will be food and beverage vendors! (no pets please) Tickets available at the Fair office: $15 for adults, $10 for kids, Kid's ages 5 and under free! The Fairgrounds office is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9a.m. - 4 p.m. Tickets available now and day of the show.

Attorney General Bonta, San Diego DA Stephan Announce Sentencing in Fraud Scheme Targeting U.S. Navy Sailors

Oakland, CA... California Attorney General Rob Bonta and San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan announced on June 14th, 2021 that Paul Flanagan was sentenced to 357 days of house arrest and ordered to pay $500,000 in restitution for defrauding thousands of U.S. Navy sailors in San Diego County through a tax and insurance scheme. Another defendant, Ranjit Kalsi, was previously sentenced and ordered to pay $500,000 in restitution. The scheme, perpetrated through a company called Go Navy Tax Services, sold expensive and unnecessary insurance products to service members at a substantial commission for the defendants.
Amador County, CA... Amador County Public Health reports 17 more cases of COVID-19 since last Tuesday’s update, bringing the total laboratory confirmed case count to 1,838. The new cases include 12 males and 5 females, 12 aged 18-49, 2 aged 50-64, 3 age 65 and above; 7 residing in Ione, 1 living in Jackson, 1 in Pioneer 2 living in Plymouth/surrounding areas, and 6 residing in Sutter Creek/Amador City. No Amador residents are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Mother Lode Job Training Awarded $350,000 to Improve Job Opportunities for People with Disabilities

Mother Lode Region, CA...Mother Lode Job Training (MLJT) has been awarded a $350,000 grant to establish services that will improve job opportunities for people with disabilities. Funding for this grant, which ends in March 2023, was provided through discretionary funds made available to Governor Gavin Newsom in accordance with the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and administered by the EDD and the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency.
