Columbia's Glorious 4th of July Celebration!

Columbia, CA...Columbia State Historic Park invites you to our annual Glorious Fourth of July Celebration with a community parade, games and more. The Independence Day festivities, sponsored by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, begin with a Flag Raising and Black Powder Musket Salute by the Columbia Militia at 11 a.m. There will be a concert at 11am on Main St.

Successful Tuolumne County Sheriff's Search & Rescue

Sonora, CA...TCSAR completed a multi-agency rescue of 14 backpackers from the Emigrant Wilderness on Thursday 07/01/21. Late Wednesday, 06/30/21, OES alerted the Sheriff's Office of a 911 PLB activation in the Emigrant with several backers packers ranging in age from 15-22 years of age. They had been caught in a locally severe thunderstorm that included heavy rain and hail with lightning. The group had several teens that were suffering from hypothermia and needed immediate evacuation.

Mark Twain Medical Center Opens Annual Community Grant Funding Period.

San Andreas, CA...MTMC will be awarding $34,000 in January of 2022. Mark Twain Medical Center, (MTMC) through its affiliation with Dignity Health, has announced the opening of the 2022 Dignity Health Community Grants Program. The Dignity Health Community Grants Program is designed to support nonprofits that collaborate to address community health needs, particularly those that focus on underserved populations. Therefore, the projects to be funded must involve collaboration with 3 local organizations and be linked to Mark Twain Medical Center.

This morning Sheriff Rick DiBasilio lead a swearing in ceremony for recently promoted and newly hired Sheriff’s Office employees: Pictured from left to right: Jacob Blagg – new hire Deputy Sheriff, Ty Seawell - promoted from Deputy to Corporal, Jim Moser - promoted from Corporal to Sergeant, Greg Stark – promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant, Corynn Caffey – Extra hire to full time Sheriff Services Technician. Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) awarded Career and Technical Training (C&TT) scholarships to a total of six high school students recently., Awards Nights were held in late May and early June. Three Calaveras High School students, two Bret Harte High School students and one Mountain Oaks student
each received $1,500.
