As Our Area Spends a Night in Darkness Let Us Remember the Camp Fire Started on November 8th, 2018

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/25/2020 08:18 PM
Arnold, CA...While we look at the possibility of spending tonight and tomorrow night in darkness it might be of some benefit for us to remember that fire season is not over until our first real drenching rain. In November of 2018 most of us had already started to feel that fire season was over as temps were dropping and the calendar had entered November. It was a November fire that proved the worst fire in California history. The arrival of that winter's first drenching storm only a few days later only intensified the fact that fire seasons are only ended by real winter storms and not the calendar.

Make Sender's Ace Hardware Your Christmas Shopping Destination!!

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/23/2020 07:29 AM
Mountain Ranch & Valley Springs, CA...We have lots of new Christmas items and more on the way!!! Before you go shop anywhere else, stop in and see what we have! Chances are we have what you're looking for!! In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we're still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Whether you've got questions about the perfect cut of meat or the right kind of paint, our helpful, knowledgeable staff has you covered.  Click on images below for larger versions

Lucia is Your Calaveras Pet of the Week!

Posted by: News_Desk on 10/23/2020 12:19 PM
San Andreas... Meet Lucia, a gorgeous torbie with an adorable dab of orange on the tip of her tail. She was a very shy and scared pregnant young adult when she was found. Two weeks later, Lucia gave birth to four kittens. A dedicated mom, Lucia took excellent care of her kittens and is now ready for a home of her own. Lucia is very sweet and gentle though still learning to trust people. She enjoys having her back gently stroked but remains a bit skittish when being held. Lucia likes to sniff your hand before you pet her and especially warms up to the person who gives her a Greenie, her favorite treat. She will require a calm household with adults and perhaps older children who are patient and understand the need to go s-l-o-w-l-y. We also believe with consistent, loving attention Lucia will gain confidence and this lovely girl will make a wonderful addition to her new home.
