The "Slurp Sends" Trilogy on Becoming & Serving as a Green Beret from Local Author, Photographer & Ebbetts Pass Fixture Richard "Dick" James

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/26/2020 06:27 PM
Arnold, CA...Just before we started the whole COVID-19 mess we had the pleasure to spend a few minutes speaking with an Ebbetts Pass Area fixture and icon Dick James. We had a compartment spill open in a backpack that we carry camera equipment and lost a memory card. We thankfully recently found the card that must have bounced in the pages of a notebook. So after a bit of delay we can finally post his interview. In the books he recounts a movie worthy life journey that has lessons for all of us and especially for those who have had a family member or friend who served and you want to see what their life and journey may have been like in the Vietnam Era. Below is our interview, links to his books and his bio. Thank You Dick James for the interview and sorry for the delay!!

(Looking Back During the Shutdown) The 2019 Calaveras Fair & Frog Jump Jubilee Youth Parade! Photos of Every Entry & Full Parade Video Below!

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/23/2020 10:19 AM
Angels Camp, CA...(Looking Back During the Shutdown) Ladies, Gents, Boys & Girls...The 2019 Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jump Jubilee is underway. The Youth Parade led the way through Historic Downtown Angels Camp. The clouds parted and the sun made an appearance to welcome in the festivities. One interesting thing was the abundance of camera crews with very expensive equipment on hand getting footage in the can. We asked who they were shooting for and there is a Netflix crew in town for this weekend to shoot a documentary on the Frog Jump and what it takes to win. So if Rosie the Ribbiter's record falls it will become part of a Netflix Feature.

Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/22/2020 11:55 PM
San Andreas, CA...Looking for a lovely senior kitty? Meet Molly, a shorthaired buff and cream-colored adult approximately 12-14 years of age. Molly adores having her head gently rubbed and her ears scratched when the mood suits her. Otherwise, she enjoys a quiet place – preferably on a fluffy pillow in front of a sunny window – where she is content to observe her humans and the world around her. We feel Molly would do best in a calm household with adults and perhaps older children who would understand that sometimes Molly craves attention and at other times needs her space. Molly also gets along well with other friendly felines but shows no real interest in wanting to interact with them. Also, Molly has never been outside and will need to remain an inside-only kitty.

2020 Bear Valley Music Festival Canceled, Will Return Better Than Ever in 2021!

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/21/2020 01:14 AM
Bear Valley, CA...It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of this summer’s Bear Valley Music Festival. It was a painful decision, but the health and safety of our musicians, crew, audience, volunteers and residents of Bear Valley and the surrounding area is our top priority. After much discussion and consultation, we determined that there was too much risk with moving forward with a late July festival.
