State Parks Advises Californians to Stay Home and Save Lives on Easter Weekend

Sacramento, CA...In preparation for one of the busiest weekends in spring, California State Parks is advising the public to stay home and save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of visiting parks and beaches, the department encourages all Californians who celebrate Passover and Easter to do so safely at home or join loved ones virtually. More than ever this weekend, staying home is critical to the safety of individuals, families, communities and all who take care of parks during this pandemic.

Fair Board Cancels 2020 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee! Some Events Rescheduled to Fall!

Angels Camp, CA...(Frogtown, USA)..On April 7, 2020, upon the recommendation of Calaveras County Public Health, the 39th District Agricultural Association Board of Directors voted unanimously to cancel the 2020 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee, scheduled for May 14-17. After much deliberation and weeks of discussion the board concurred with the County Health Officer. In addition to the Fair, the Capitol Jump, Junior Frog Jump and Government Center Jump are cancelled.

Mark Twain Health Care District Making Free Cloth Masks Available

San Andreas, CA...During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the CDC has now begun recommending that everyone wear a face covering when they go out in public. In response to this, and the fact that commercial medical masks are in limited supply and needed for medical and first responder personnel, Mark Twain Health Care District has commissioned the local manufacturing of 2000 masks to be distributed free of charge to anyone who would like one.

Sheriff's Deputies May Cite Violators in Covid-19 "Essential Travel" Updated Education & Enforcement.

Sonora, CA...Tuolumne County Health Officer Dr. Eric Sergienko released updated orders for our county yesterday. The order specifically outlines what “essential travel” means and what activities “essential travel” includes. In addition to the clarification from the county health officer, the Bureau of Reclamation and the Unites States Forest Service have increased their efforts to close recreational access points throughout the county. Tuolumne County has been fortunate to have only one confirmed case of Covid-19. Our neighboring counties continue to battle the virus with Stanislaus County announcing 81 confirmed cases and Calaveras County with five confirmed cases.

Stanislaus National Forest Announces Forest Order to Close Additional Forest Roads, Extend Seasonal Road Closures

Sonora, CA...In alignment with current federal, state, and local guidance for social distancing and to ensure health safety of its visitors, employees and local communities, the Stanislaus National Forest has extended the seasonal road closure, and closed seven additional roads along with some high-use areas effective April 5, 2020 through April 30, 2020. This closure is in addition to developed recreation sites that were closed on March 26.
