San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Arts Council is deeply honored to be invited to host a meeting of the California Arts Council (CAC), a California state organization whose mission is to advance California through the arts and creativity. The CAC, through grants and initiatives, helps support arts programs that benefit communities like Calaveras County.
Jon Stewart says Congress 'Should be Ashamed' Over Inaction on Helping 9/11 First Responders

Washington, DC....From PBS..."Jon Stewart, the former host of "The Daily Show," appeared before a House committee in Washington, D.C., to again advocate for health benefits for 9/11 first responders. At the start of his 10-minute statement, Stewart said Tuesday's hearing was an "incredible metaphor." "Behind me, a filled room of 9/11 first responders and in front of me, a nearly empty Congress." Stewart said the lack of urgency to help these responders was a "stain" on Congress. "Your indifference cost these men and women their most valuable commodity: time," he said. "It's the one thing they're running out of."

San Andreas, CA...The 2019 season of CalaverasGROWN Certified Farmers Markets opens Thursday, June 13th in the UCCE Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden at Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas. By popular demand, this year the market will be open weekly. The main market will take place on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 4 -6pm (June 13th, July 11th, August 8th, September 12th and October 10th) featuring local growers and vendors, live music from Vintage Vibrations and family-friendly activities for kids.
