San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) has successfully recruited a third orthopedic surgeon to join the MTMC Specialty Care practice along with Dr. Craig Lovett and Dr. Lisa Siegler. Dr. Roger Rogalski is a welcomed addition to the experienced team. He has been actively practicing in the South Lake Tahoe as an Orthopaedic Surgeon, specializing in Sports Medicine for over twenty-five years.

Washington, DC...Governments around the world are tightening control over citizens’ data and using claims of “fake news” to suppress dissent, eroding trust in the internet as well as the foundations of democracy, according to Freedom on the Net 2018: The Rise of Digital Authoritarianism,  the latest edition of the annual country-by-country assessment of online freedom, released today by Freedom House. Online propaganda and disinformation have increasingly poisoned the digital sphere, while the unbridled collection of personal data is breaking down traditional notions of privacy. At the same time, China has become more brazen and adept at controlling the internet at home and exporting its techniques to other countries.

Markleeville, CA...Updates from the Alpine Sheriff's Office on Missing Bradford Dozier...October 31, 2018 Spencer Case, Undersheriff Search and Rescue update regarding missing person Bradford Dozier. The search for missing person Bradford Dozier continues. As of 2:00 pm, October 31, 2018, no clues have been found. Currently the search is concentrated west of Blue Lakes near Deadwood Peak in Alpine County.

Markleeville, CA...Bradford Dosier went hiking to an unknown destination on Saturday 10/27/18. His vehicle was located at the Evergreen Trailhead on Sunday the 28th. Bradford is a white male, age 55, 5'10" tall and around 190 lbs. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark gree long sleeved shirt, olive hiking pants and hiking shoes or boots. Anyone with information please call the Alpine County Sheriff's at 530.694.2231

Final Environmental Impact Statement Features New Preferred Alternative for Over-snow Vehicle Use Designation on the Eldorado National Forest

Placerville, CA...The Eldorado National Forest has released a Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Draft Record of Decision for Over-snow Vehicle (OSV) Use Designation. The Final EIS includes a preferred alternative that was developed in response to comments from both motorized and non-motorized winter recreationists. Individuals or organizations that commented on the Draft EIS can object to the draft decision during a 45-day review period which closes on December 17, 2018. Any objections will be carefully considered before a final decision is made. Current OSV management will remain in place this year. The final decision on OSV designation will not be effective until the 2019-2020 season.
