A Winter Storm Watch has been posted for Sunday at 4pm through Monday at 12 noon with 12"+ new snow expected! We are thrilled to announce that as of 12/1/18, Bear Valley Cross Country glides into a new ownership model. The Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative (Bear Valley Adventure Company, Inc.) is the new owner and Dianne and Paul look forward to contributing to a seamless transition. We are very excited about the future of both this adventure business and Bear Valley in general. Cheers to 40 more years of continued great times in the meadow and beyond! State Water Board Adopts 40% Unimpaired Flow Plan for Lower San Joaquin River and Southern Delta, Severe Impacts Feared for New Melones, Don Pedro & Reservoir Water Storage

Sacramento, CA...The State Water Resources Control Board on December 12th adopted a plan designed to restore water flows through the Lower San Joaquin River and its tributaries—the Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Merced rivers. The plan update the Board adopted includes a requirement for 40 percent of unimpaired flow, within a range of 30 to 50 percent. Some fear they pushed the vote back to after the November Elections and Fire Season to lesson the political "Fish over People" outcry over the plan. It is uncertain what the potential impacts to the Governor's, State Assembly, State Senate or House of Representatives races would have been or if the impacts would have been enough to change the outcomes. If they had voted on this plan in October as scheduled it probably would have at least changed the outcome of the Jeff Denham vs Josh Harder race in the agricultural water centric 10th District.

Seasonal Road and Trail Closures on Stanislaus National Forest Begin Dec. 16

Sonora, CA...Seasonal road and trail closures on the Stanislaus National Forest begin Dec. 16 and will remain in effect until April 14, 2019. The STF Motor Vehicle Use Map indicates which roads and trails will be closed and may be picked up at any ranger district office, or by visiting STF’s maps webpage at http://go.usa.gov/x8ysh. Please note if the MVUM identifies a road as closed, regardless whether a gate is closed and locked, it is closed for the season. Additionally, roads identified in the MVUM as being open may be hazardous due to local weather conditions, such as snow, or fallen trees. Drivers and hikers are urged to be prepared for hazards caused by fallen trees.
