Flash Flood Warning Issued for Donnell Fire Burn Scar Area

Bear Valley, CA...The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Northeastern Tuolumne County and Southeastern Alpine County in northern California Until 615 PM PDT. At 316 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms with heavy rain across the Donnell fire burn scar. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the Donnell fire burn scar will result in debris flows. Debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. Some locations that will experience flooding include Dardanelle and Kennedy Meadow.

Sonora, CA....From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."We were honored to be a part of the send-off for this amazing woman. Officer Olga Boenisch has been with the California Highway Patrol for 17 years. Prior to joining the agency, she worked as a Sheriff’s Deputy in L.A. County for two years. Not only is she a great officer but she is one strong woman.

Murphys, CA...A free Labor Day Concert by the longest “laboring” band in the County, the Calaveras Community Band, will take place at the Murphys Community Park on Monday, September 3, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. (Please note this time is earlier than usual starting times.) The Calaveras Community Band has been in existence since the 1880s, and it is something special!

Sequoia Woods Country Club is located on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains, roughly between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park, at an elevation of 4000 feet. The club house is open to the public, with a bar and lounge, dining room and seasonal deli. The beautiful setting can be enjoyed from indoors or outside on the deck, with a view down the main tree-lined golf fairway. The bar serves food several evenings each week and the restaurant is open for dinner every weekend. Bear Valley’s 26th Annual Triathlon is A High Sierra Labor Day Weekend Tradition

Bear Valley, CA...The picturesque setting of Alpine County, California, is the location of the exciting 26th Annual Bear Valley Triathlon. The popular central Sierra Labor Day Weekend tradition will be held on Sunday morning, September 2 (day before Labor Day Monday), at Bear Lake, in Bear Valley Village. Nestled in a beautiful mountain location, the triathlon course features a 600-yard swim (warm water, close to 70 degrees, wet suits are allowed, but not necessary); 10.5-mile bike (rolling, climbing loop course); and 3.4-mile run (rolling road). Air temperature will be approximately 70 degrees by 10:30 a.m. The triathlon will conclude with the awards ceremony, raffle, and a great barbecue.
