Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Easter weekend is here and it brings beautiful weather. The high today will be around 51F with variable winds in the a.m. from 5-10mph the shifting to the SSW in the afternoon. Sunny and warmer conditions will be on tap for the next handful of days with a day or so of mixed precipitation showing up on Thursday. The pressure gradient will tighten up a bit come Monday so some breezy conditions look to be on the horizon.The Nic Dodov Slopestyle event happens today as well as an Easter egg hunt for Sunday. Tons of great XC skiing out there so come up and get it while you can! XC ski trails, meadow, and tubing areas are open Wednesday through Monday this week and closed to the public on Tuesday. Murphys, CA...Competitive runners, and people who just enjoy a stroll in the verdant countryside, are invited to take part in the 7th annual Off the Beaten Path on Saturday, April 28 in Murphys Community Park. The money raised will go to support Mind Matters, the Murphys based non-profit clinic that treats autism and other learning disorders. The multi-faceted event will feature a 10k run, open to men and women of all ages, that will take participants down Six Mile Road, past Ironstone Vineyards, and back. Medallions will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. Participants who would rather walk and chat than run are encouraged to do so. The 5k course will be to Ironstone and back. Families are welcome to bring their tricycles, bicycles, strollers, etc. and join the fun.

Red Cross Seeks Disaster Volunteers for the Mother Lode

Calaveras County, CA...Ask the average person about the American Red Cross and chances are they will mention disasters like the Butte fire and floods, tornados, hurricanes. But most of the disasters American Red Cross volunteers in Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Amador counties respond to are single-family home fires. Since last October, volunteers have responded 20 times to assist families (119 adults and 37 children) that were devastated by a home fire.
