CUSD Threads The AB30 Needle & Calaveras High Logo To Remain The Same

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/26/2016 10:47 AM
San Andreas, CA...Calaveras High School was faced with AB30 this year which mandated the removal of our Redskin Mascot, which has been in place since the mid 1940’s. The dignity and pride that we have maintained in the use of our logo will not change. Our Mascot Selection Committee was comprised of Calaveras High School alumni, Calaveras High School staff, community members and most importantly Calaveras High school students representing each grade level. The committee chaired by Mike Koepp, CHS Athletic Director, asked for input from all sources that wished to submit their thoughts to suggest a new mascot for our school. All that data was gathered through an on-line survey as well as hand-submitted forms to our office.

San Andreas, CA – The leading cause of death for Americans 15-20 years old is motor vehicle collisions, (According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and the CHP’s goal is to reduce the death rate among teenagers as the result of these collisions. Start Smart is aimed at helping newly licensed and future licensed teenage drivers understand the critical responsibilities of driving and to understand that accidents do happen, but collisions are 100 percent preventable.

Bret Harte High School Cybullfrogs Club Receives Grant from Calaveras Community Foundation

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/26/2016 11:22 PM
Angels Camp, CA...Cybullfrogs, a Bret Harte High School LegoRobotics club, has received a $9964.00 grant from the Calaveras Community Foundation. This is the second year the Foundation has generously helped fund Cybullfrogs. The money will be used to expand the club, now in its second year, so that more students will be able to participate in the hands-on building of programmable robots. Since its inception in March, 2014, the club has grown to 24 students, increased the number of female members, and hosted competitions/exhibitions with teams from six other local schools. With this generous donation, advanced club members are working on their Remotely Operated Vehicles, robots which perform underwater. Real life ROVs are used with nuclear submarines, in marine technical fields, and exploration in the offshore oil and gas industries.
