Arnold, CA.....Dear EwePhoric Friends & Family....After much consideration, I have decided that it is time to retire. This summer marks 40 years since I left home and entered the working world. While I do love my little yarn shop and value the many friendships made over the past 4 years, the time is long overdue for me to re-prioritize my life. I am looking forward to spending lots more time with family; to resurrecting 10 years of genealogy research; learning to spin & weave; to teaching the fiber arts; and to creating luscious textiles. I want to read every President's biography; may be even learn to speak Spanish; and lose those @#% pounds.....

Angels Camp, CA....Laurie Giannini, Facility Marketing Director of Frogtown, and others took their Annual trek to the Arden Faire Mall on Thursday to talk about the upcoming Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jumping Jubilee. Laurie brought out "Geraldine" one of the famous Calaveras County Frogs to show how the frog jump works.....

"As of today, 5/4/08, Matt only has 3 more radiation treatments. He will then have about a 4-5 week break, before his chemo program. These last few weeks have been tough for Matt. He had to have a blood transfusion, because his red blood cell count was too low. They were only able to give him one unit, because the added blood gave him a high fever. He’s having a second blood transfusion tomorrow. He had to have IV’s everyday last week, to keep him....

San Andreas, CA...On May 8, 2008 the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office attended the Corrections Standards Authority Board meeting in Sacramento. The purpose of the meeting was to determine which counties would receive AB 900 funds for local jail construction. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office came in fourth place of the counties with a population under 200,000. There is a total of $100 million available to counties with a population under 200,000....

Lake Alpine, CA...We just spoke with Randy at the Camp Connell Caltrans office and they expect to have Hwy 4 over Ebbetts Pass open by 2pm this afternoon. So as of this afternoon The Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway will be whole again for the summer. So get out the cameras, pack the car and go explore the high country...

Arnold, CA....Arnold Residents, of Arnold Lions Club, President Larry Haskell, and his wife Bobbi, Region Chair Bob Zetterberg and wife Carrie, 1st Vice President Mike Heffernan and wife Kathy, Past President and Club Counselor Frank Hengel and wife Alice, Lions Marty and Sam Ware, and Harry and Sherry Tittle recently attended the 59th Lions Clubs International District 4-A1 Convention in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. The eight Arnold Lions were one of over 250 Lions who participated in the meetings that drew representatives from 65 local chapters..... |

Participating in the ceremony were District 5 Supervisor Russ Thomas, and Lucy Thein, President of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Calaveras, Gary Tofanelli, Supervisor Candidate even made an appearance....

Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise Candidates Night for District 4 Packs the House! |

Murphys, CA....Native Sons Hall of Murphys was the place to be tonight for the Supervisor Candidates District 4 Night. The Hall was packed with community members trying to decide who they want representing them in their District. Present were Tom Tryon, Lee Seaton, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass. This event event was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Calaveras Enterprise. Each Candidate was asked questions by Moderator, Buzz Eggleston, Editor of the Calaveras Enterprise. The audience also participated in questions for the hopeful candidates. The evening started at 6:30pm and ran until about 8:30pm. The next Candidates Night will be held on Wednesday May 7th at 6:30pm at San Andreas Town Hall for District I Supervisor. Present will be Zerrall McDaniel, Gary Toffanelli and Kathy Mazzaferro. As we get closer to election day the candidates are starting to define their positions in clearer terms. We will be posting some excerpt clips of some of the sharper exchanges in a separate piece. This was a well run smooth debate evening. The Full Video of tonight's "Lively" evening is enclosed.....
