Mark Twain Medical Center Hosts 20th Annual Fall Health Fair Saturday September 29th!

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be holding its 20th Annual Fall Health Fair on Saturday, September 29th from 7am to noon at the Hospital Campus in San Andreas. In addition to the many valuable services and information that will be available; this year the MACT Health Board, Inc. will have two of their Optometrists from their San Andreas Clinic at the 20th Annual Fall Health Fair to provide free vison and glaucoma screenings.

Candidate’s Debate Night September 27th in Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Calaveras County Association of Realtors will be hosting a Candidate’s Debate Night for Supervisorial and Sheriff Candidates. This event will take place on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Bret Harte Theatre located at 323 South Main Street in Angels Camp. Candidates will be available for the Meet and Greet at 5:00pm followed by the debate from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Supervisorial candidates will participate in a debate format while the Sheriff candidate participates in a Q&A.

PG&E Helicopter Patrols in Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties

Angels Camp, CA...Given the dramatic wildfire threat our communities face this year, PG&E is taking immediate action to ensure the safety of our customers, their neighborhoods and the surrounding community. PG&E Vegetation Management Crews are taking urgent action to create even greater safety clearances between trees and power lines in neighborhoods and communities that face the most extreme wildfire-threat. To support this effort, PG&E will be using helicopters to patrol electric lines in areas of Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties that are in extreme fire threat areas defined by the CPUC High Fire Threat map.

San Andreas, CA...Thirty artists in nineteen locations throughout Calaveras County will open their homes and studios and display their artwork during the Calaveras County Arts Council Artists Studio Tour on September 22-23. The self-guided tour, free and open to the public, is an opportunity to meet the artists face-to-face, learn about their artwork, and discover treasures you will want to take home. Fire Update....Equipment Sparked a .68 Acre Blaze Near Hwys 12 & 49

San Andreas, CA...CAL FIRE Tuolumne - Calaveras Unit firefighters responded to and quickly extinguished a .68 acre vegetation fire near Hwy 12 and Hwy 49 San Andreas (Calaveras County) #HammFire The fire ignited as a result of unsafe use of Equipment. A citation was issued. Do not let this happen to you and heed caution while using any equipment. Cooler temperatures in the area does not indicate safer conditions as much of the vegetation is still very dry.

Subject Arrested after Altercation and Running from Deputies

Valley Springs, CA...On 9-17-18 at approx. 0815 hours CCSO Deputies responded to a residence in the 6000 block of Highway 26 for reports of an altercation between a male and two females. Upon arrival Deputies spoke with two females (age 21 and 22) who stated they were visiting a male, (s) Nicholas Kohring (age 28 of Valley Springs), at this location and had arrived here after being at a bar out of county the night before. The two females reportedly were prevented from leaving by (s) Kohring who also made threats towards them.

San Andreas, CA...Planning Commission Notice of Public Hearing LEAD AGNECY: Calaveras County Planning Department, 891 Mountain Ranch Rd., San Andreas, CA 95249 2018-052 Zoning Amendment and Agriculture Preserve Contract No. 363 for Mark Connolly Mark Connolly filed an application to establish a California Land Conservation Contract / Ag Preserve No. 363 for 176.01 acres located off Burson Road directly east of the Southworth Road and Burson Road intersection in Burson. APN: 048-025-034, 50 acres, and 050-002-120, 126.01 acres, are located in a portion of section 32, T04N, R10E and a portion of sections 4 and 5, T03N, R10E, MDM. In conjunction with the Ag Preserve, the subject property must be rezoned from the current Unclassified (U) zone district to the Agriculture Preserve (AP) zoning signifying the land is restricted by the Williamson Act. A notice of exemption has been prepared pursuant to Section 15317 of the CEQA Guidelines.

Moderate Injuries to Sonora Man in Tuolumne Road Collision

Sonora, CA...On Friday, September 14, 2018, at approximately 8:00 PM, 22 year old Tuolumne resident, Savannah McNeil, was driving a 2005 Ford 500, stopped westbound, within the westbound traffic lane of Tuolumne Rd, in preparation to turn left into a private driveway west of Morris Road,yielding to oncoming eastbound traffic. 21 year old Sonora Resident, Joseph Davis, was driving a 2014 Toyota Tacoma westbound, in the westbound traffic lane of Tuolumne Rd, at a speed in excess of 40 mph, approaching to the rear of McNeil's vehicle. 50 year old Los Banos resident, Louis Mendez was driving a 2005 GMC Sierra eastbound, within the eastbound traffic lane of Tuolumne Rd, at approximately 55 mph approaching the area McNeil from the west. For unknown reasons, Davis failed to observe McNeil's vehicle stopped directly ahead in his path of travel. Due to Davis' unsafe speed, the right front of Davis' vehicle collided with the left rear of McNeil's vehicle.
