San Andreas, CA...CAL Fire states faulty wiring on a power pole that sparked was the cause of a 1 acre vegetation fire at the 1300 Block of Magers Way in San Andreas. No injuries reported. CAL Fire report enclosed..

Modesto, CA...Saturday members of the Calaveras and Bret Harte 2011-2012 played in an All Star North vs South football game in Modesto, CA. Our Team Members were #2 Tanner Sherrow, #8 Jason Leatherman, #18 Seth Holcomb, #22 Robbie Weaver, #33 Justice Rasmussen, #34 Donovan Vassey, #42 Jarrod Kennedy, #50 Mike Rocco, #54 Troy McCann!! We were North (Red). We won 35-17!!! Full North Roster Enclosed and Lots of Photos Below!!!

San Andreas, CA...After a one-year hiatus, the Calaveras Arts Council and Soroptimist International of Calaveras County are again partnering to host the fun affair. The San Andreas Town Hall is, again, the venue for this event. So, mark your calendars and begin thinking about that unique chair, stool, bench or “a place to sit” that will garner the most money for the charity of your choice....

San Andreas, CA...Dennis R. Maloney of San Andreas, CA passed away peacefully in his home on June 27. He was born in San Mateo CA in 1946 to William H. Maloney and Earlene Meyners. He Grew up in the Irvington District of Fremont, CA. Dennis was widowed from his wife of 36 years, Stephanie in 2005. They Resided in Los Gatos for 30 years and retired in Otis, OR for a few years....

Arnold, CA...Stop by the Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store Adoption Center in Arnold, located in Meadowmont Center next to Big Trees Market (Phone 209-795-GIVE). We'll be open THURS. - SAT., 10-5. We will have approximately 10 Cats & Kittens available to meet you. Our 2 featured cats this week are on special for a low two-for-one donation. So much love for so very little! We are also currently having a 'Summer Of Love' Special, in which the adoption donation for Adults & Junior Kittens over 4 months of age is $35, and all Kittens up to 4 months old are $50. We hope that you will join us in this "Summer Of Love."...

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Master Gardeners will conduct their monthly Open Garden Day on Saturday, July 28th. Located at the County Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas, the garden will open at 10 am and stay open to the public until 2pm. This month’s garden topic fits perfectly with our long dry summers and increasing temperatures. We are presenting “Turn off the Tap: Save Water and Money in the Garden”. The informative presentation starts at 10:30 AM with a question and answer session to follow. Bring your questions and concerns....

San Andreas, CA...Last Saturday afternoon Wines on Main kicked off what the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce hopes will be an annual event on Historic Old Town San Andreas's Main Street. This narrow strip of historic buildings is a perfect spot to hold events like this one. Wines from many of our local wineries were flowing.
