San Andreas, CA...Last Night's update on missing pilot. "Today around 35 Searchers from agencies including the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, and the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office performed an extensive search in an area east of Mountain Ranch. Searchers reported slow progress due to terrain and heavy brush as you can see in the attached photo's. One photo is of the mobile command unit with views of the area to be searched and the other is a still shot photo of the mountainous terrain.

Mountain Ranch, CA...(Update...The Calaveras County Coroner's office has confirmed that the deceased male in the wreckage was LeRoy Del Don and that his family has been notified. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends) On Tuesday, June 13, 2017 around noon, a search team reported finding possible aircraft debris. Shortly after this discovery a crash site and aircraft was located around one mile south of the last known radar point of Missing pilot LeRoy Del Don. The area of the site was densely wooded and steep, and the aircraft appeared to have collided with one or more trees before coming to rest on a steep hillside. One deceased person was located in the wreckage.

Mountain Ranch, CA...On June 10, 2017 the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office about a missing or overdue aircraft. It was reported that 75 year old Leroy Del Don Jr had departed an airstrip in Stanislaus County (Wesley, Ca.) on Friday, June 9th around 2:00 pm and had not made it to his destination of Columbia Airport.

Moderate Injuries To German Woman When Rented Harley Went Down In Mokelumne Hill Area

Mokelumne Hill, CA...A 48 year old German woman was riding a rented 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Hwy 49, north of Poverty Gulch at about 35 to 40 mph. As she started to negotiate a curve to her left, she was traveling too fast for the curve and had to lean the motorcycle so far to the left that the crash bars scraped on the roadway. She lost control of the motorcycle as it ran off the east roadway edge and up and embankment. The motorcycle rolled over and ejected her to the ground.

San Andreas, CA...June 12th, 2017 – After a wet winter, warming temperatures are quickly drying out the abundant annual grass crop. The increasing fire danger posed by the high volume of dead grass and hotter, drier conditions in the region is prompting CAL FIRE to suspend all burn permits for outdoor residential burning within the State Responsibility Area of Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties. This suspension takes effect June 12th, 2017 and bans all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris such as branches and leaves.

San Andreas, CA...Congratulations to the Calaveras High School Class of 2017. 200 of our area's best and brightest marched across the stage and received their diplomas last night in San Andreas. Below we have some highlight photos and full video in HD of the entire ceremony. When you click on most photos they will take you to a full sized version. We have included two versions of the class photo so if we happened to catch your graduate looking left or right we have two versions to hopefully get one where their faces are visible.
