Calaveras County Sheriffs Association to Hold Dinner To Benefit Local Youth |

San Andreas, CA...The Annual Calaveras Deputy Sheriff Association (DSA) will hold their annual Dinner Dance on Saturday March 22nd ad San Andreas Town Hall. The event will start at 6pm with a no-host bar, then dinner to follow at 7pm. The proceeds for this event go to local youth organizations, and contributions to local scholarships every year. Arnold, CA...We had the pleasure to check in with Doug Shinn from Cedar Creek Realty on the status of the negotiations with Calaveras County on the Driveway Slope Issue. For those of you who may not be familiar with the issue the County is now interpreting an existing county ordinance in a more restrictive manner than it had been doing for a number of years. There have been several Stakeholders meetings and a Supervisor Study Session on this topic. A meeting has now been scheduled...

San Andreas, CA....Following up a call for artists in the Calaveras County Arts Council’s 11th annual ArtSpirit Show, 131 high school students from four high schools entered a total of 200 works in eleven categories. Cash awards of $10 for First Prize, $5 for Second Prize, and Third Place ribbons were given in each category. Additionally, a $20 Popular Choice Award will be presented after the April 17 closing of the exhibit, which is open to the public at 22 Main Street in San Andreas. Here are the results....

Jenny Lind, CA....The MythBusters are making their 5th appearance in Calaveras County to film an upcoming episode. Today's Myth involves testing some scenes from the Caddyshack movies about explosives and gophers. They had us swear a vow of secrecy to protect the outcome of the MythBusting. One of the other reasons we made the trip out to Jenny Lind were they where filming this morning, was to chat with Calaveras County OES Chief, Clay Hawkins about the visit from the MythBuster's Team. Many of you may not know that...

BOS NEWS....The New Jail has 28 Acres of Land to Call Home |

| San Andreas, CA....As expected today, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of 28 acres in San Andreas for the home of the New Jail. There have been extensive negotiations over the last few months to reach an agreement on the purchase. The final price has not been disclosed but there has been agreement on an arbitration process to reach a purchase price. The county has agreed to pay at least $1.9 Million. The negotiations have reached the point necessary to allow the grant process to move forward... |

Board of Supervisor's to Discuss New Jail, Increase in Building Permit Fees, VESTRA Contract, Behavioral Health, Lamphier-Gregory Contract and More on Tuesday Morning |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday March 11th at 9am for their weekly meeting. Some of the agenda items being discussed will be is a Resolution authorizing application for the new jail construction Grant; Resolution approving an amendment to the agreement between Calaveras County and Behavioral Health, Inc. for In-patient Psychiatric Hospital Services to increase the total amount from $75,000 to $150,000 for the period 7/1/07 to 6/30/08; There will also be a Minute Order approving the extension of the contract between the County and VESTRA to continue to provide the tasks for the current countywide land use layer as well as developing or editing non-land use GIS layers, for an additional amount not to exceed $15,600.00 which will be reimbursed by the CCOG utilizing a grant received by Cal-Trans; After the regular meeting they will adjourn for lunch then move over to Town Hall for Study Session at 1:30pm on Environmental Management then at 2:30pm there will be a joint meeting between the BOS and the City of Angels City Council regaring general plan updates.
