Quorum Health Consulting Contract Decision Pushed Back At MTHCD Board Meeting |

San Andreas, CA...The biggest item on yesterday's Mark Twain Health Care District Board meeting was pushed back until the August 24th meeting. There may need to be some state specific contract adjustments. The agenda item was: "Consider approval of an agreement with Quorum Health Resources LLC for a financial, operational and strategic assessment of hospital operations to determine the District’s ability to sustain itself as an independent hospital and identify alternatives if independence is not an option"

Burson Man Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon |

Burson, CA...On 08/02/16 at approx. 9:00 PM Calaveras Sheriff’s Communications Center received a 911 call from a reporting party stating that a male adult, identified as Troy Casteel (47 years of age) out of Burson, was involved in a dispute with a family member at a residence on the 5000 block of Southworth Road in Burson. During the dispute Mr. Casteel allegedly displayed a handgun and threatened to kill the family member. The family member was able to escape the house, but a two year child was left behind with Casteel. Sheriff’s deputies responded and attempted to have Casteel meet them outside the house, but were unsuccessful.

County Announces Contract for Hazard Tree Removal for Butte Fire Recovery |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors called for a special meeting on August 2, 2016, to vote on the award of a Professional Services Agreement for hazardous tree removal of burnt trees resulting from the Butte Fire which occurred in September of 2015. The contract was awarded to Phillips and Jordan for a total of $9,775,053.39 and terminates on August 31, 2017.

Major Injuries To 4 Year Old Jackson Boy In DUI Collision. DUI & Child Endangerment Charges Filed |

San Andreas, CA...On August 2nd and 31 year old Jackson man was driving a 2003 Saturn southbound on Riata Way approaching Tapadero Street at approximately 30 miles an hour. He entered into a left hand curve in the roadway. He failed to negotiate the curve and traveled off the roght side of the roadway onto the dirt/gravel shoulder. He attempted to regain control of the vehicle by turning sharply to the left which caused the Saturn to in a counterclockwise direction, traveled to the left across the roadway and onto the east sholder where the right rear of the vehicle struck a large tree.

Calaveras Board of Supervisor Back In Action At A Special Meeting Today On Hazardous Tree Removal |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors is back in action starting at 9am today. Supervisor Cliff Edson is requesting a "Motion to Reconsider" Item #8 on the July 26, 2016 Board Meeting Agenda awarding a Professional Services Agreement between the County of Calaveras and Phillips & Jordan, Inc., for Hazardous Tree Removal Services due to the Butte Fire for an amount not to exceed $9,775,053.39 and a term ending August 31, 2107.

Major Injuries To Idaho & Valley Springs Women In Head On Collision |

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday about 1pm west of the Hwys 12 & 49 intersection a 25 year old Idaho woman was traveling westbound on State Route 12 west of State Route 49. A 75 year old Valley Springs woman was traveling eastbound on State Route 12. The Idaho woman allowed her Toyota pickup to drift completely into the eastbound traffic lane, directly in the path of the oncoming Mercury driven by the Valley Springs woman. The Toyota and Mercury collided head on, completely in the eastbound traffic lane. The pickup came to rest within the eastbound lane and the Mercury rolled off the south side of the roadway. Both parties were trapped in their vehicles until they were extracted by fire department personnel and transported to trauma centers. The roadway was completely blocked for approximately 1 hour with detours in place.
