San Andreas, CA...Tonight the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce held the first of two Candidates Nights for candidates in the races for contested seats. The District One contestants met this evening at the San Andreas Town Hall and answered questions across the spectrum from economic development, marijuana, general plan & more. Incumbent Cliff Edson, challengers Sharon Romano & former Supervisor Gary Tofanelli are battling for the honor to serve the next four years.

Unknown Subject Fled On Foot After Injury Accident( Update...Driver Has Been Found)

West Point, CA... (Update...The driver, Joseph Shortal, has been located and charges will be filed for Felony Hit and Run.) An unknown party was driving a Chevy in the eastbound traffic lane of State Route 26 at an unknown speed. A 73 year old Stockton man was driving his Ford and was stopped on private property preparing to turn left onto westbound SR-26. After checking both directions on SR-26, and when it was clear, He proceeded to turn left onto westbound SR-26 and established the right of way. The person that fled the scene observed the Ford entering SR-26 and applied his brakes forcefully. The Ford almost completed it's left turn and was established within the westbound traffic lane. The driver of the Chevy lost traction with the roadway and began to slide to the left into the westbound traffic lane.

San Andreas, CA – The leading cause of death for Americans 15-20 years old is motor vehicle collisions, (According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and the CHP’s goal is to reduce the death rate among teenagers as the result of these collisions. In order to address this alarming trend, the CHP developed a program called Start Smart. Start Smart is aimed at helping newly licensed and future licensed teenage drivers understand the critical responsibilities of driving and to understand that accidents do happen, but collisions are 100 percent preventable.

Minor Injuries In San Andreas Collision

San Andreas, CA...On May 2, 2016 at approximately 1650 hours an Angels Camp man was driving his Cadillac southbound on SR-49 north of Treat Ave. at two miles per hour, slowing for stopping traffic ahead. An Arnold man was driving his Mercedes to the rear of the Cadillac at 5 miles per hour. A Valley Springs woman was driving her Chevrolet at an unknown speed to the rear of the slowing vehicles. She failed to perceive traffic slowing ahead.

San Andreas, CA...The 2016 Relay for Life event on April 25th 9am to April 26th 9am. The event is held this year at Calaveras High School in San Andreas. If you are a Cancer survivor, caregiver, know someone who has been effected by cancer or not and would like to participate- all are welcome!! You can participate in many ways from forming a new team, joining a team, purchasing a Luminaria bag in honor or memory of a loved one, donating to individuals or teams or joining us on the day to purchase raffle tickets, baked goods, or to play carnival games. If you have a raffle prize you'd like to donate, (something made or purchased), or make a monitory donation be assured that 72% of every dollar raised goes directly to fund cancer research and ACS programs!
