First Two Post Butte Fire Recovery Homes To Be Unveiled On Monday

San Andreas, CA...The first two homes to be built by Calaveras Recovers will be unveiled at the 9 a.m. Monday, April 4, meeting at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints hall at 221 Church Hill Road, San Andreas. “We are excited to finally get started on these two homes,” said Allen Sender, president of the all-volunteer group. “We hope the agencies and other groups who want to be involved will attend.”
99.5% of Registered Butte Fire Properties Cleared of Debris

Mountain Ranch, CA...Debris removal is now complete on 99.5% of participating properties. 3 crews continue to make great progress working a seven day work week. Soil Samples have been approved on 693 properties and erosion control completed on 560 properties. The Building Department continues to encourage residents to submit building plans for review and complete a building permit application prior to completion of the debris removal process.
San Andreas, CA...Richard “Rick” Dell Rider died at home on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the age of 66, after a courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born in November of 1949 to Harold and Dean Rider in San Mateo, CA. Rick led an exciting life in his early years and was an avid Grateful Dead follower. Rick moved to San Andreas in 1984, where he worked in sales at a motorcycle shop before becoming the lead custodian at Toyon Middle School. Rick worked at Toyon for 16 years, until he was diagnosed in the summer of 2015.
San Andreas, CA...Thousands of Calaveras County Water District customers won’t pay more for water and wastewater services this fall with the Board of Directors’ decision Wednesday to cancel a rate increase planned for September. The increase would have raised monthly water rates by $5.11 and wastewater by $3.84. “I’m pleased we were able to move forward with the critical projects in our Capital Improvement Program without raising rates,” said Dave Eggerton, CCWD general manager. “We were able to prevent an increase of $8.95 per month for customers who have both water and wastewater service.”

Sonora, CA...22 March 2016, at approx. 3:49 pm, an officer responded to the area of Sonora Elementary School for a reported hit and run accident. The victim called 911 and reported a reckless driver who collided into their vehicle on Greenley Rd, then took off at a high rate of speed. The caller advised the responsible vehicle was last seen turning into the upper parking lot of the Sonora Elementary School, after running a red traffic light.
