San Andreas, CA...I would like to express my appreciation to Calaveras County Deputy District Attorney Jeff Stone for his courteous demeanor during the recent Kenfort Williams court case. Mr. Stone contacted me in advance to notify me that the case was coming back to court for trial. Mr. Stone took the time to discuss the merits of the the case with me. I had intended to watch part of the trial, however the case settled, and there was no trial.
Mountain Ranch Road Hard Closure & Detour To Michel Road Due To Culvert Collapse

San Andreas, CA...A hard closure to all traffic on Mountain Ranch Road from Lower Michel Road to Upper Michel Road. A culvert under Mountain Ranch Road has collapsed. All traffic will be detoured to use Michel Road. Road closure will remain until Mountain Ranch Road has been repaired. Please use caution in the area.
Flash Flood Watch In Effect From Saturday Afternoon Through Late Saturday Night

San Andreas, CA...National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the Butte fire area in effect Saturday afternoon through late Saturday night. Flash floods and debris flows will be a particular threat in and below the fire burn areas. Rainfall rates could exceed one half inch per hour at times during the storm. The severely burned areas of the past year will be of particular concern. The soils in these areas absorb little to no rainfall.. leading to enhanced runoff. Those traveling should be alert for possible road problems due to flooding, rock, and debris flows. A flash flood watch for the burn areas means that conditions may develop that lead to flash floods, rockslides, and or debris flows. Remain alert and be prepared to take action if needed.
San Andreas, CA...Party 1 was traveling in vehicle 1 northbound on State Route 49 just south of California Street at approximately 25 mph, directly behind vehicle 2. Party 2 was traveling northbound on State Route 49 just south of California Street at approximately 30 mph. before slowing to a stop for children crossing at the crosswalk. However, Party 1 did not stop and consequently, the front end of vehicle 1 collided with the back end of vehicle 2.
Murphys, CA...Joanne Jeffords died after an 18 month battle with kidney cancer on Feb. 22. She was 60. Joanne was born in Hollywood, California on Feb. 26, 1955. She and David A. Jeffords, her husband of 37 years, moved to Murphy’s in 2013. She was the Chief Nurse Executive at Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas.
