Moderate Injuries to Maryland Man In Hwy 49 Motorcycle Accident |

Angels Camp, CA...On September 24, 2015 at approximately 1201 hours, CHP San Andreas officers responded to a motorcycle collision on SR-49 south of Deer Creek Road. Upon arrival, officers determined that a 55 year old Maryland man was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson) northbound on SR-49 at a stated speed of 40 MPH. For an undetermined reason, he lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected off the vehicle and into the southbound lane of SR-49.

San Andreas, CA...Following the devastating Butte Fire, many of the displaced Calaveras and Amador County residents are seeking help and guidance regarding steps they can take to begin rebuilding their lives. In an effort to provide advice and answer questions, a town hall meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the San Andreas Town Hall, located at 24 Church Hill Road, San Andreas, CA 95259 from 6pm to 9pm. "The Airola Family has lived in Calaveras County since the 1870's," said Steven Airola, of Airola & Airola. "Our community has never experienced such a devastating tragedy.”

Mokelumne Hill, CA... Dr. Michael T. Romano Jr, age 65, of Mokelumne Hill, Ca lost his battle with cancer early Saturday morning, September 12. His wife, Connie, and his stepchildren, Tom, Chris, Mandy, Crystal, and Grandson Connor were with him in Modesto after he and Connie were evacuated from their home by the Butte wildland fire.

Local Telecomm Companies Bring Mountain Ranch Community Back Online |

Mountain Ranch, CA...Local telecomm companies REM Net Communications (REM) and CCT Telecomm (CCT) have deployed free Wi-Fi access and phones to the local Mountain Ranch community devastated by the Butte Fire. In addition to the homes and outbuildings destroyed, the Butte Fire wiped out all phone, Internet, and power to the small community. ‘I went out to check a tower site Friday morning, I came back and my home was gone,’ said Ron Mobley, lifelong Mountain Ranch resident and owner of REM. ‘Seeing the loss my community is suffering, it feels good to be able to provide something useful.’

San Andreas, CA...Fire behavior remained minimal during the day within the fire perimeter. Firefighters are working aggressively to expedite re-population. Smoke may continue to impact the affected fire areas and surrounding communities. The public is reminded to use caution as electrical service and other utilities, such as water and sewer, may not be restored for up to a week. Road Closures: Ponderosa Road at the burned area; Railroad Flat Road closed to Mountain Ranch Road; Michel Road; Sheep Ranch Road at Fricot City Road; Sheep Ranch Road at Mountain Ranch Road; Railroad Ranch Road at Jesus Maria; Swiss Ranch Road at Railroad Flat Road; Jesus Maria Road at SR 26, Ponderosa Way at SR 26; Hawver Road at Doster Road; West Murray Creek to 44 Ranch; Doster Road approximately 1 mile North of Sierra Vista Lookout Road; Jesus Maria at Whiskey Slide; Cave City Road at Michel Road; Whiskey Slide Road at Worden Road; Mountain Ranch Road at Upper Michel Road; Lower Michel Road at Mountain Ranch Road.

Under direction of Calaveras County Public Works, Cal-Waste has deployed food waste bins at the following areas: Mokelumne Hill, Mountain Ranch, Additional bins will be deployed Friday, 09/18 in: Wilseyville, Glencoe, Westpoint, Railroad Flat, Sheep Ranch Calls for bin locations and pickup can be directed to Cal-Waste at 209-795-1352

San Andreas, CA....The Butte Fire Containment number has risen to 49%. The number of homes burned climbed to 252 residences and 188 outbuildings destroyed. Fire behavior remained minimal during the day within the fire perimeter. Favorable weather conditions allowed crews to continue with perimeter control. Firefighters are working aggressively to continue Re-Populating affected fire areas. ***Damage Assessment teams have arrived and started evaluations of damaged and destroyed structures*** Road Closures:(Calaveras County) SR 26 from Mokelumne Hill to Ridge Road; Ridge Road closed to Railroad Flat Road; Railroad Flat Road closed to Mountain Ranch Road; Mountain Ranch Road closed to Hwy 49; Michel Road is closed.
