Workshops for Job Seekers Planned for June and July |

| San Andreas, Ca...Mother Lode Job Training - a series of workshops aimed at helping job seekers succeed at finding employment in their desired field. The workshops will be held at the Calaveras Career Center of Mother Lode Job Training in June and July. The workshops are free but pre-registration is required. Call (209) 754-4242 to reserve a spot at the training. Resume Writing will be held on Wednesday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to Noon. The workshop will be repeated twice in July on Wednesday, July 9th 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and again on Wednesday, July 23rd from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 from 10 a.m. to Noon. Learn how to show your best to land the interview, draft an ideal cover letter and how to handle references.... |

San Andreas, CA....On Wednesday Night over 200 of Calaveras County's best & brightest were rewarded for 12 years of hard work. There was Pomp & Circumstance, awards, speeches and much more. We have tried to provide an archive of the event for those who could not attend and also for those who did to be able to go back and have another look. We have two versions of the full length video and over 700 photos...

CCWD Board Adopts Mandatory Stage 3 Water Conservation |

San Andreas, CA....During a regular board meeting held Wednesday June 11, the Calaveras County Water District Board of Directors adopted Stage 3 mandatory water conservation measures, effective immediately, which will affect about 12,600 customers. These conservation measures were adopted in response to Gov. Jerry Brown’s declaration of a drought state of emergency along with a curtailment notice from the State Water Resource Control Board sent out in early June. The district has encouraged its customers to voluntarily conserve water since Brown’s emergency drought declaration and is appreciative of the significant conservation many people have achieved over the past few months...

CDAA's Investigator Of The Year Award Goes To Gary Stevens!! His Exemplary Work On Bergo Case Highlighted! |

Sacramento, CA....The California District Attorneys Association (CDAA) has selected the recipients of its 2014 awards, to be presented at the annual CDAA Summer Conference in Newport Beach on June 26, 2014. The 2014 recipients are: The District Attorney Investigator of the Year award recognizes investigators whose outstanding ability and professional dedication merit the respect and recognition of prosecutors. The 2014 recipient is Gary Stevens from the Amador County District Attorney’s Office. A peace officer for 24 years, the last six with the DA’s office, Mr. Stevens spent over two years investigating and gathering evidence in the murder of an elderly woman, whose son, Justin Bergo, was eventually found guilty of the crime. Amador County DA Todd Reibe describes Mr. Stevens’ work on that case as,“one of the best examples of investigative work I have seen in my 23 years practicing criminal law.”

Copperopolis Man Found Guilty Of Rape Of A Minor |

San Andreas, CA....On June 11, 2014, a Calaveras County jury found Robert Walker, 32, guilty of raping a child under the age of ten with two prison priors. Deputy District Attorney Dana Pfeil prosecuted the case on behalf of the Calaveras County's DA Office. "The victim was very believable and showed incredible courage in testifying. The Jury believed her and I am pleased that justice was served today", Pfeil said....
