The Calaveras Unified School District (CUSD) in partnership with The Resource Connection Food Bank will conduct a food drive beginning Monday, May 5, through Wednesday May 14, 2014. CUSD will conduct automated phone calls to parents and staff in an effort to facilitate a high participation rate and to maximize the collective power of the 3,500+ students and staff to make a significant donation to our community....

Plants will be offered for sale, including some favorite water-wise selections, from 10AM – 12PM. The Garden is located at the County Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas.

A Rocky Morning For Driver Near Rocky Road |

San Andreas, CA....Crews from the San Andreas Fire Department and CHP Offices worked what was luckily a non-injury accident on Mountain Ranch Road near Rocky Road. An elderly gentleman and his dog took a ride off the roadway in his pickup and overturned in the creek. Other than being shaken up the major damage appeared to be with the probably totaled truck....

46th Annual Calaveras County Spelling Championship |

San Andreas, CA ...The 46th Annual Calaveras County Spelling Championship will be held Thursday evening, April 24. at Calaveras River Academy/Mountain Oaks School multipurpose room in San Andreas beginning at 6:30 p.m. This annual Spelling Bee is open to the public. Calaveras River Academy/Mountain Oaks School is located at 150 Oak St, San Andreas, CA 95249. Calaveras County students in sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades compete in this event. First, second, and third place winners will receive award plaques, and all participants will receive certificates for their participation in this countywide event. The top two spellers from grades seventh, eighth and ninth will be eligible to compete in the Statewide Junior High State Spelling Bee Championship to be held in San Rafael on May 3, 2014; an event sponsored by the Marin County Office of Education...

CCWD Fly In Acres Assessment District Construction To Begin |

San Andreas, CA...On April 24, 2013 the Board of Directors of the Calaveras County Water District adopted a resolution forming the Fly In Acres Assessment District. Plans and specifications were prepared and put out to bid. On October 14, 2013 the Board approved a construction agreement with Mozingo Construction. The project will take approximately 4 months to complete. The project involves replacing the existing aging water distribution infrastructure and installation of hydrants and meters. Survey work staking out the project began last week. Mozingo is planning on mobilizing this week starting April 20, 2014. The actual construction is scheduled to begin next week starting April 27, 2014...

| San Andreas, CA...Sixteen superior court judges from throughout California have endorsed Judge Hugh K. Swift in his June 3 election campaign to retain his position in the Calaveras County Superior Court. Following an extensive evaluation by the State Bar Association’s Judicial Nominees Evaluation Commission, Swift was appointed last December to succeed the Hon. Douglas V. Mewhinney who was retiring. He now faces two challengers in the primary election.... |

Some highlights: Copperopolis, Male came to knock at his door was talking weird things came into his house and got chips spread them all over his kitchen table then went to a neighbors house and got into his house was wondering around in his house. San Andreas, Occurred at Turner Park on Treat Ave. , San Andreas. There are approximately 12 people in a tent in the back of Turner park. San Andreas, Hunters parked on side of road BBQing drinking.
