Angels Camp, CA...Soroptimist International of Calaveras County installed their 2013-2014 Board of Directors on June 5 at Camp’s Restaurant at Greenhorn Creek in Angels Camp. Terry Hughes, District II Director for the Sierra Pacific Region of Soroptimist International of the Americas, was the installing officer. Also attending were Pat Jones, Sierra Pacific Region governor, and Barbara Giambastini, past Sierra Pacific Region governor and current parliamentarian....

Mark Twain Medical Center Now Offers Comfort Kits to All Overnight Patients |

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center [MTMC] announced today that all overnight patients will now receive comfort kits as part of a commitment to partner with patients and improve their experience. The kits are designed to offer specific amenities that can help patients feel more comfortable and assist them in interacting more proactively with their caregivers. The hospital will offer both “Quiet Kits” and “Relax and Refresh Kits” to all overnight patients. The Quiet Kits contain items such as ear plugs, an eye mask, a “Voices Down Please” door hanger, lip balm, and Sudoku and crossword puzzle books. A “Questions for My Doctor” booklet and pencil are also included to help patients communicate their questions and concerns to their care team...

San Andreas, CA....Dear Judge Martin: The 2012-2013 Civil Grand Jury, in accordance with Penal Code Section 933(a), respectfully submits its Final Report to the Calaveras County Superior Court. This jury has gone about its work enthusiastically, with good humor and an amazing ability to support each other through many unexpected difficulties. Some have been specific to their tasks as Jurors while others were personal. It has been a unique experience for us all. 19 diverse Calaveras County individuals, chosen by lottery, have become colleagues, investigators, report writers and friends all in the space of one year....

The tournament is open to all players and will feature the following divisions for boys and girls: Elementary (up to sixth grade); Middle School (seventh and eighth graders); JV (ninth and 10th graders); Varsity (11th and 12th graders); as well as a new Open division for adults 18 and older....

Mr. Oneto was born Feb. 7, 1922 in Melones, Ca. to Frank and Annie (Cuneo) Oneto, and raised on the Oneto Ranch at Dry Creek, near San Andreas. He was a 4th generation life-long resident of Calaveras County, and a direct descendent of the pioneering Oneto, Cuneo and Gomes families, who came to the county in the early 1850'S...

San Andreas, CA....San Andreas Community Covenant Church invites children to a castle adventure set in merry old England. “We have an exciting summer program planned for children in our community” says Laurie Giannini, VBS Coordinator. “This summer we will be transforming the church gym into Soncastle Faire, where children discover the joy of using their talents to serve the King of Kings. We will feature music, crafts, games, Bible study and snacks-all of the things that make Vacation Bible School so popular for children and their parents. On top of that we will be helping children discover their unique abilities and learn how to use them to serve God”.
