Arnold, CA...Stop by the Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store Adoption Center in Arnold, located in Meadowmont next to Big Trees Market (Phone 209-795-GIVE). We'll be open THURS. - SAT., 10-5. We will have approximately 9 Cats & Kittens available to meet you this week. We are currently having a 'Summer Of Love' Special. The adoption donation for Adults & Junior Kittens over 4 months of age is $35, and all Kittens up to 4 months old are $50. This is an incredible value considering that our costs in caring for and preparing these wonderful foster cats for adoption is far greater. It's a labor of love. We hope that you will join us in this "Summer Of Love."...

Juvenile arrested for Hemptation Burglary

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested a 16 year old juvenile male from San Andreas for burglary and possession of stolen property. On 6-2-12 at about 7:05am, the Sheriff’s Office took a burglary report at 148 E. St Charles Street, a business known as Hemptation, after a passerby noticed the front window was broken out and employees found items missing. On 6-10-12 at about 11:30pm, a Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling the area noticed that another window on the front of the business had been shattered within the last 5-10 minutes.

Former Calaveras County Supervisor John Joseph Lodato Passed Away June 17

San Andreas, CA...Born on the 24th of April, 1919 in Los Angeles, CA, to Sicilian immigrant Salvatore Lodato and Jean Giarratano. His parents separated shortly after his birth, and he was raised by his maternal grandparents and foster families in the East L.A. neighborhood. He attended high school at Lincoln High School in inner city Los Angeles, where he received encouragement and the assistance of teachers and counselors to apply to Stanford University. He was admitted to Stanford University in 1937 with the class of 1941....

San Andreas, CA...Alba “Ada” Marie Price, born Sept. 17, 1917 in Bingham Canyon, Utah passed away June 16, 2012 in San Andreas. Known to many as “Nonie” she loved her animals, walking, music, singing, the Italian Club dinners and taking care of her flower garden. She enjoyed cooking and her specialties were Gnocchi and Lemon and Apple pie. She cooked at the Kentucky House in San Andreas for the Calaveras Cement Plant. She worked many years at the Altaville Drug Store preparing lunches for high school kids and members of the community. She was a retired clerk for PG & E with 32 years of service and lived 77 years in Calaveras County. She volunteered for the Mark Twain/St. Joseph’s Hospital Thrift Store and the American Cancer Society...
