Weekly Market Update Week of November 1, 2010 ~by Donna M. Stevenson of Pacific West Financial Group

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/02/2010 02:12 PM
THE MARKETS: October provided another example that the stock market and the economy do not always move in tandem. For the month, the Dow posted its best October since 2006, rising 3%, the S&P advanced 4%, and the Nasdaq leapt 6%1. Meanwhile, the government’s initial reading on Gross Domestic Product – the broadest measure of the economy – showed that the current recovery is still one of the weakest in generations. For three months ending in September, GDP grew at an annual rate of only 2%. During the past 30 years, the average growth rate during a U.S. economic expansion has been 3.6%. During the end of 2009, growth was as strong as 5%.

A Hauntingly Fun Halloween in Copper ~ By, Charity Maness

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 11/01/2010 11:45 AM
Copperopolis kids dressed in all their finery, be it ghoulishly scary, eye dazzling beautiful, or just plain silly, attended the highly anticipated Copper Town Square Halloween event. The town square was decked out with webs, ghosts, goblins, spiders and more. There was live music, a parade, a costume contest, and the finale…trick or treating through the whole town square. Each window was carefully decorated by local businesses and organizations, and manned to hand out candy by the handful to each costumed passerby. Located at each exit was a Calaveras County Sheriff Volunteer making sure that any child that may have wandered away would quickly find his or her parent.....

Employment Records Disclosure from Darren Spellman

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 10/31/2010 12:27 AM
Rancho Calaveras, CA...Darren Spellman has shared his employment records with us. This cannot be easy, to show your work history to the public. In an article written in the Calaveras Enterprise on Friday, they accuse Darren of being "fired" from his job as a school teacher at CUSD. According to Darren Spellman, "A reporter from the Calaveras Enterprise contacted him and gave him 24 hours to prove he was laid off from the school or she was breaking a story that he was not. So he called the school to get his records. They could not have them ready in 24 hours so the reporter refused to halt the story to wait for the facts and documentation." All of the documents included are from the relevant 2009 time frame...

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 10/29/2010 11:10 AM
Copperopolis, CA.... resident Robert Moore starting roping seven years ago at the age of 35. Up against much younger yet more seasoned ropers, he has made a name for himself in a very short time. Training with his Uncle Jerry Nation, friend Rodney Clark and Professional Cowboys Association roper Russ Rodman has led Robert to compete in approximately 70 competitions. This year, at 42, all that training and time invested paid off with the highly coveted title of Division 3 State Champion and region 5 high point winner.
