Penny West Resigns from Calaveras Arts Council

Penny West is leaving the Calaveras County Arts Council (CCAC), a private, public benefit non-profit organization, where she has served for over two decades. She began working at the CCAC as Executive Director in 1989. During her 21-year tenure, she brought the organization, which had a zero budget then, to where it is today, a successful agency that connects the arts with local residents. Mary Jane Genochio who had been job-sharing with West for four years, and then was appointed to Executive Director a year ago, will continue at the helm. Ed Cline, volunteer President of the Board of Directors, will also continue his leadership role.....

"Growing up in a small agricultural town in San Joaquin County brings back memories that often apply to life. On the outskirts of town there were many dairy farms. When the weather gets wet, large areas of deep mud often form where cows frequent. If a cow becomes stuck in the mud, someone has to get it out. If the cow stays stuck for to long it will dehydrate/starve and did. Government, at all levels, federal, state and local are still alive, but are stuck in the mud....

Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital has announced the availability of booth spaces at their 1st Spring Health Fair February 27th at Ironstone Vineyards. The Fair will be held inside, start at 7:00 a.m. and end at noon. Activities will include free health screenings, blood analysis, senior services, bone density screenings, nutrition and fitness, and food, music and fun. Health-related community organizations and businesses who are interested in a booth space can contact Nicki Stevens at 754-2603. .....
