San Andreas, CA...The MSTJ Summer Health Career Camps are back for another great year. The first class to attend last week was honored on Friday at a graduation luncheon. The camp is for local juniors and seniors in high school that are interested in pursuing a career in health care. The attendees had a busy week of Job Shadowing in Physical Therapy with Sean Escamilla, Surgical Services with Lynn Gates, Diagnostic Imaging with Joel Jaussaud, In the Lab with Bill Boaz, Infection Control with Mauro Garcia, The Emergency Dept with Johanna Vermeltfoort, Administration with President Feliciano Jiron, Med Surg/ICU with Kassie Waters, At the Valley Springs Clinic with Roy Sheldon and...

Copperopolis, CA...The Calaveras Arts Council kicked off its 2009 series of free Music in the Parks last night at the Copperopolis Town Square. This free concert was the first of ten this summer in various parks of Calaveras County. Last eve's Opening Night featured "Golden Bough", a trio that captures the essence and joy of traditional Irish and Scottish Celtic music -- as well as Wales, Cornwall, The Isle of Man, French Brittany and Spanish Galicia. Golden Bough even played some new music from their soon to be released CD.

Driving Under the Influence Causes Moderate Injuries to Driver and 9 Year Old, Minor Injuries to 11 Year Old |

Copperopolis, CA...On Friday we reported a solo vehicle collision at Cheyenne Road and Choctaw Road in Copperopolis. It involved a 25 year old Copperopolis man who was intoxicated while driving. He had two young children in the vehicle with him. Due to his level of intoxication, he lost control of his vehicle eventually hitting a tree. The car then started on fire. The driver and one child suffered moderate injuries, while another child suffered minor injuries. The driver will be formally charged by the DA's office for Felony DUI charges causing injury. Full CHP release enclosed....

Copperopolis, CA...Saturday Copperopolis was hopping with Pancake Breakfasts, Parades, Bounce Houses, Booths, Hot Dogs, T Shirts, Fire Engines, Chili Cook Offs and More. In a tradition that dates back for over a 100 years local and visitors flocked to Copper to celebrate. We stopped by and got some highlights of the parade and we stopped by the Fire Station and took a gander at all the displays. We have over a 100 photos below and about 12 minutes of video that is enclosed...

Copperopolis, CA....The first annual sixth grade science camp chili cook-off sponsored by Micki and Larry’s Sports Pub was an astounding success. The entrants in the youth division ranged from a mere nine years old to fifteen years old. The judges had a tough time judging this one. After some serious debate the judges decided they needed one more sample each of “the Dominator” and “Hoorah”. At first I thought they were simply extremely hungry judges, but it seemed there was a tie. Taking their title of judge seriously (as serious as possible seeing as how they were sequestered in the Sports Pub) they knew a winner had to be....
