Angels Camp, CA...Expect delays on Highway 4 between Angels Camp and Copperopolis as work crews are closing the road down to one lane periodically throughout the week. They are performing tree removal and stump burning along the sides of the highway. Today they are in the vicinity of Poole Station road so use caution as you round the corners....

Copperopolis, CA...The Copper Firefighters Association came to this community with the request for help in passing Measure L to continue to allow the Copperopolis Fire Protection District to spend the tax dollars collected and held by Calaveras County for operating expenses. If Measure L had not passed . . . our Paramedic program would have ceased to exist and five paid Firefighters would have been laid off. That was not acceptable to those of us that understand that the nearest ambulance with a Paramedic is 30 minutes or more away...

Copperopolis, CA.....The Copper Chili Cookoff team were pleased to present a check for $2,000 to the Copperopolis Volunteer Fire Fighters Association this week. The proceeds were a result of the ticket sales for the well attended event. Fire Chief Keith Cantrell of Copperopolis Fire Protection District, President Mike Shevlin of the Volunteer Fire Fighters Association, and several fire fighters attended to accept the donation. Copperopolis, CA....The Old Corner Saloon in Copperopolis, affectionately dubbed “The O.C”, held its first Open Mic night on Saturday. Local Stand-up comedians, magicians, and musicians paraded their craft on stage while crowds heckled, jeered and cheered. The amount of talent that can be found in the tiny town of Copperopolis was astounding. Even more impressive might be diversity of the audience members. Copperopolis, CA......This past weekend the “Magical Fruit” got a makeover as contestants from all over Northern California converged on the Copperopolis Towne Square for the first annual Copperopolis Chili Cook Off. With 20 contestants and 750 votes cast, the event could be summed up as a huge success....
