Amador County, CA....The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on State Route 49 from Rancheria Creek Park to the Amador/El Dorado County line. Work will begin on Monday, August 22, 2011, through Friday, August 26, 2011,
from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Crews will stripe the road in this location....

Jackson, CA....The Amador Student Music Fund (ASMF) has received a second grant from the James Irvine Foundation in San Francisco. This generous grant will be used for children in the county who want to learn to play an instrument. ASMF, an independent 501(c)3 music program founded in 2008, provides and promotes the integration of music into the lives of financially challenged families and to the student.....

Sierra Sax & Brass Quartet was formed by musicians, all living in Amador, in 2009 as an affiliate to the Central Coast Saxophone Quartet, which still performs in the Bay Area and will be making its 17th annual appearance at the Gilroy Garlic Festival.....

Paving On Hwy 88 May Cause Delays This Week

Kirkwood, CA...Caltrans will be paving along Hwy 88 beginning near the Junction of Hwy 89 and ending near the Kit Carson Campground. They will also be paving from Blue Lake Road to Red Lake Road. Please use caution and expect up to 15 minute delays in these areas...

Lanes Blocked on Hwy 88 Due to Slide

Kirkwood, CA...Crews are on the way to remove a mud, rock and snow slide that is blocking 1 1/2 lanes on Hwy 88 in the Carson Spur area. This area is prone to slides and the recent rain and snow has no doubt loosened up debris in this area.
